Players I think are actively "in the discussion":

Chris Johnson

Players that wouldn't surprise me/I think could help:

Darelle Revis
Sam Shields
Tramaine Brock
Dan Williams

Darkhorses:

DeAngelo Williams
Eric Decker
Jeremy Maclin
Rashad Johnson

I know that's 9, but whatever. I really just put Rashad on there in case there's an injury or something.

Here is a very good article on Revis, also is a great article on conerbacks concerning age... worth reading, especially about his contract :)

The contract part is a good read. It'd be hard to consider him coming in with that information.

But my biggest concern on this roster is still inexperience at QB. Yes, Patrick has played a fair amount of seasons and can be the veteran leadership in the locker room, but if he goes out for a game or a couple of series, we're counting on two guys who have practically zero experience. Revis communicating what he sees on the field alone would be an asset.

There are options out there at CB, WR, OL, and DL. Also, if we needed a spot rusher, there are a couple worth looking at.

Odrick and Revis are the biggest cost issue guys. Both made a lot of money last year, and would be taking a huge cut.

I'd add D Harris and CJ to the short list.

True, not every member of the Final 53 will see much playing time, and it's good long-term strategy to develop younger backup talent, BA and SK have not been bashful about carrying a few seasoned backup vets to provide experienced backup depth and lockerroom presence.

Stay tuned.

Would have no problem with CJ and I'd love to have Rashad come back and retire a Card. He worked his butt off for this team and was the def., QB IMO.

After reading about Revis's $ status for this year, I don't think there's any way he's signing with any team.

For those that didn't read the article, the Jets owe him $6 million for 2017. If he signs with another team for $3 mil then the Jets would pay him $3 mil... essentially anything less than $6 million & he's working for free for a new team. Anything barely over $6 million is just a small increase in pay & probably not worth having to put in all the work to get ready for the season unless he has a burning desire & drive to chase a championship. He's already saying that his body is breaking down & that it's harder to play at a high level at 32... I just don't see the desire in him. Maybe he'll prove me wrong and play for free with the team he thinks has the best chance at a ring... even then, that's probably not us in his eyes (Patriots?).

or the flip side...he can play for someone on the cheap as the jets will assure he makes at least $6m this season..... if he sits out a year at his age odds are good his career is done...he might squeak out another contract as long as he stays on the field

If P2 goes out for a game or two then he coaches up the youngins on the sideline. The safeties are the ones who will talk to them when on the field because of where they are positioned. You know LCB & RCB are on opposite sides of the field most of the time.

I think that we can consider experience and leadership as the entire DB unit and not just CB.

So you just sign him to a similar deal where he gets guaranteed money next year. I.e., 1 million this year and 3 million guaranteed next year. The Jets are on the hook for $5 mill, we pay $1m then $3m next year whether or not he plays.

So then why put your body through the grind? He gets paid 6 mil for staying home, he's not going to sign for less than that iMO.

Unless pride or the chip on his shoulder gets too big.

I would think it would have to be more like he wants one more big pay day, and the only way he's going to get it is to prove to someone that he still has it. The reason I don't think he'll sign for less is because, IMO, he knows he's lost a step or 2 and this is basically his last payday.

I want to take Revis, pump him full of that Stallone HGH and let him ball out.

Then next year when his failed drug tests come out, it wont matter. He can retire right after our superbowl ring ceremony.
