TORONTO (AP) -- Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, who finished runner-up to Ryan Braun in voting for the 2011 National League Most Valuable Player award, thinks the suspended Milwaukee Brewers slugger should be stripped of the honor.

He should be stripped...

Jack O'Connell, secretary-treasurer of the Baseball Writers' Association of America, said the award vote was final.

''The decision was already made. He won it,'' O'Connell said in an email Monday.

Shows how out-of-touch the BBWAA is with reality - they turned a blind eye to this, they are culpable.

Disagree. It opens up a can of worms. How can you take it from Braun and not take it from Ken Caminiti? And where does it stop? Do we start taking them from players that used Amphetamines to make it through the dog days of summer? It's done, keep it that way.

I don't think that is true at all. Caminiti broke no rules, just like Sosa and Bonds. Braun on the other hand did break the rules and was caught breaking the rule.

Weren't they already against the law and isn't that in itself a violation? Ken admitted to taking them much like Braun has finally done. Still, anyway you look at it, it opens up a can of worms.

A lot of what they take is not illegal if obtained from a doctor. Also, a lot go out of the country were a doctor is not needed.

In May 2002, Caminiti told Sports Illustrated that he used steroids during his MVP season, when he hit a career-high .326 with 40 home runs and 130 RBI. He estimated half the players in the big leagues were also using them.

--------------------------

I think the difference is that he got away with it and volunteered the info later - after his career was over.

Braun was busted in the same year he won the MVP and only got off on a technicality (urine sample handling). Now he has come out and admitted to using PED's.
