For the most part the picks this year seem to be based on potential.

The ability to coach players and make them better than they were in college.

Kenny hasn't shown flash in a long time, and there are no guarantees he'll improve the team but he the coaches can work with him he'll be a welcome addition as a DE.

the Cards have to be concerned about the age and durability of the veterans at OLB.

With Iwebema...this is the type of player who flashes big-time talent, but hasn't stayed healthy or consistently productive enough to warrant an earier selection.

Kenny's a guy who's going to require being pushed. He's got the potential to be a good starter, but trying to guess his production today is an exercise in futility. Unless the coaching staff knows something we don't, he's an End, not a Linebacker.

I think that many of these picks: DRC, Campbell, Kenny show a confidence in the Cards' coaching staff to develop and teach these kids with great physical tools.

I do not know if that is warranted, but I do think this is the best staff of "coaches" we've had in awhile.

Well we might have a great coacking staff but I am wondering about the Draft scouts. We could of gotten better picks then those 2.

Sounds like Smith coming out of Oklahoma state, and I have no doubt he was drafted because we will let Antonio walk next year unless he improves on his play to match the flashes we see from him.

My personal opinion is that we shouldn't have drafted him at all, in any round...maybe 7th. Injured, average after recovering...meh.

I grew up in St. Louis during the 60's which gives me ties to both the Cardinals and Hawks. It's tough being a fan of one perennially bad team but somehow I've been cursed with 2 losers - and funny, wouldn't have it any other way as I'll always root for both teams - no matter how well/bad they are.

I just watched his highlight reel (Thanks Omo).

You can see he has terrific closing speed, which suggests that the ability and athleticism are there - it's just a matter of his bringing it on every play - and for Coach Aiken to be able to draw it out of him.

That will be the challenge. Let us not forget that last season, there was this guy named Buster Davis who was shown the highway - it will be up to Ken to make sure the adrenalin is flowing 100% of the time and that the light bulb is perpetually "on."

You got that right partially right. I have watched him play and am from Iowa but am an Iowa State fan and I know we always had the greatest respect for Kenny.

He is no Buster Davis who plays his hardest all the time. Kenny needs a challenge. He has more physical skills than most players and can get disinterested when not properly motivated or challenged.

Thats why he played well against Joe Thomas. I also think he suffered from playing for a bad team the last couple of years. The Hawkeyes have been in a shambles the last couple of years and I think that affected him.

Some scouting reports say they think he will be a better pro player than college player because he will be motivated playing tougher competition.

From a fan of Iowas rival I like the guy and wanted us to take him because I thought he would fit in perfect as a 3-4 defensive end. I think it's a good pick.

I am a Hawks fan too. Started rooting for them when they got Pistol Pete Maravich and have been a fan ever since.
