I don’t think he took a pay cut or it would have said that. My guess is they took a large portion of his salary and converted it into bonus money spread out over the future voidable years. So they are just spreading the amount of cap hit they would incur cutting him now over the next few years (which only exist for accounting purposes) in exchange for keeping him around one more year.

Going back to post #8, they would be shifting a lot of the $10M in the first column for 2022 (Base Salary) into the second column of 2022-2025 (Prorated Bonus).

Kennard was very productive before he came to AZ...kinda like Devondre was really successful after he left AZ. One common thing...

Kennard played well in the snaps Vance allowed him last season. He had the bat down that stopped Green bay on 4th down and gave us the ball back for the (nearly) winning drive.

He had a 77.4 PFF grade (Argh PFF you cry) on 247 snaps.

With Chandler likely gone they had to retain at least one experienced OLB to match with Golden if need be.
