A solid lefty reliever, a solid bull pen prospect and a 2nd round pick... all for a guy pitching so bad I would not have cared if the DFA'd him.
I'll take it Mr Towers.
Horrible trade.

Why? Other than the remote possibility that Kennedy eventually becomes a stud and we traded him in our division...what is not to like here??
I am not sure. Will need 3 years to evaluate this deal. Can we say that the guys from the Padres are winners/gritty? Kinda doubtful. Too soon.
Our "#1" starting pitcher had zero victories since May. The only way to undo that was to move him elsewhere. Demoting him with the D'backs would have had no positive results. At least we got a lefty relief specialist and two others in return. For sure... However, the way I see it we got as much as we could ever expect for Kennedy... Something is clearly not right with him (physical or mental), and I see no evidence to suggest he was going to snap out of it anytime soon. He was providing minimal to zero production for us.
Of course, I have no idea how they plan to fill his slot. It appears both McCarthy and Cahill are close to being back with he team - which sucks of course as they also showed squat when they were healthy...
Oh, so we didn't trade Kennedy for the remains of Margaret Thatcher? We got live, breathing people?
I didn't understand before. That's amazing. I thought MAYBE we might get some young new usher or soda vendor, but actual ball players? It's like Christmas in July.

No, you had it right. We traded a dead President for a dead Prime Minister.

I was obviously too subtle on my initial run.
Meanwhile, the D'backs front office has certainly been throwing Ian Kennedy under the bus for throwing at two batters' heads at the Dodgers melee.
The trade has disassociated the team from the pitcher. It makes sense.
