Now lets say the rumors and speculation are true and we bring in Hovan for a look and actually sign him in the offseason.

Now Green liked King a lot and had him as the starter at UT, but now Dockett is completly entrenched at that spot. Then with Hovan here he would be the backup to Dockett and the starting NT in passing situations.

What do you guys think of putting King back as the starting strongside DE. Zellner although playing better then I thought he would he can be easily replaced and is better suited as a backup and rotational guy. Strongside DE is Kings orginal and most natural spot and would make the transition back to it easily. Plus he would be a big upgrade over Zellner and make it so our best 4 DLinemen are on the field at the same time.

Kings first year while playing sparingly in 11 games had 2 sacks, 8 QB hurries, 2 tackles for loss, 1 fumble recovery and 2 forced fumbles. Those numbers are almost the same as Zellner and he has been starting.

After thinking about and writing about I think moving King back to strong side DE would be the best move even if we didnt sign Hovan.

I would agree with you, even if we don't sign Hovan. Let him and Pace duke it out in training camp.

Even if we dont sign or draft anyone I just think that it would put the 4 best Dlinemen on the field without putting anyone out of position. Plus I just think his talents would be wasted as Docketts backup.

While I wish he hadn't been placed on IR this year, we now know what we have in Dockett. King was having a great training camp and if they move him over to End, I think we'll have a great D-Line for next year. If Pace continues to improve then we'll a deep and talented depth chart.

I like King a lot too, but the problem with him is that he is often injured. He was having a pretty good Rookie year last year and missed about 4 games maybe more, in the heart of the season. What was it a seperated shoulder or something? That was the knock on him at 'bama too. Where ever he plays better have a decent backup.

Pace? Have we heard his number called lately? Had a good start, but has fallen off in the second half.

Not in sacks but has had several QB pressures the last few weeks. He is still playing well.

Funny, My first move was playing 1 game... Then simulating the rest of the season, going 2-16 and drafting a QB #1 overall... Needless to say we won the superbowl multiple times in my 8 seasons of franchise play. Dockett a 95 overall, Wilson 96 overall... dynamite.

Kenny King is a natural tackle, without the speed to play DE. I'd be very surprised if we pursued Hovan, he's another undersized player and Denny Green wants to get bigger players all along the defensive front seven.
