What do you know about him?

Latest speculation is that if they don't select one of the two 1st Rd. Backs, or a pass rusher does not fall, he may be the Cardinals target.

I would like it.
Either him or Peters would be one of the CBs in the first round I would draft.
Not really a fan of Waynes.
Stay the hell away from Jalen Collins as far as possible.

Surprise
I believe that I saw Todd McShay saying that he thought that Johnson was probably the best all-round corner in the draft.

He may not have some of the elite skills at any one area of playing corner but he has no discernible flaws and has top skills at every aspect of playing the position.

I like him, he would be an excellent starter with Peterson. Additionally, Cards worked him out and report was that they really liked him.

Isn't this guy pretty much a zone corner?

No, this guy is a man corner who can play zone. He has an exceptional backpedal and transitions well. Despite his thin frame he has a very physical mindset too, which can't be taught. From a pure coverage standpoint, this guy is very good.

Out of all the film I've watched on CB's in this draft, he was far and away the most consistent. He's my top target if we go CB in the first.

My guess for the Cards first round pick goes like this:
1. Pass Rusher-if one of the Big Four is available. And I don't count Fowler as there is no chance that he'll be available.
2. Kevin Johnson.
3. NT-Malcom Brown.
4. NT-Eddie Goldman.
5. OC-Cam Erving.

So my guess is that it will be Kevin Johnson.

Cover-corners are a premium position in today's NFL. Those not entirely impressed by their current roster's production would be happy with one of the top-rated Corners in the 1st round. There are a hand-full of CBs that have similar draft grades, but are different enough (in build, past production, injury concerns, character issues) that GMs can focus on which one would potentially be a better fit for their defense.

The fact that so many teams have met with Kevin Johnson, who played for a relatively weak football program while only possessing very good (but not great) physical measurements/times, suggests scouts like what they see on film and what they hear about him as a teammate... a lot.

Hard to imagine the Cardinals not having him high on their Draft Board, unless they prefer to gamble with a corner prospect that has better physical measurements.

rumors are kevin johnson could be selected even around 15 or at least at 22 by steelers
byron jones (another prospect who was brought for a visit and cardinals are very interested )should be drafted by eagles at 20
jaelen collins had multiple failed drug test in college so i dont see him as first round selection or in cardinals board
damarious randall is another rising prospect,1st safety for mayock, cardinals love his cover skills and effort,he play 100% in every plays

Like I said in another thread, I think this CB class is very bad when it comes to top end talent. Talent-wise, there are a lot of 2nd and 3rd round guys, which is where Johnson would fall in a good year, but the only top level talent is Marcus Peters and he has his own issues.

Johnson is the most ready-to-play CB in the draft. I'm also not a big Waynes fan. The hang up might be he may like to play physically, but he's not strong enough to do that with NFL receivers. I've said I think CB is the most likely position for the Cards to draft, considering the likely pool at that point in the draft. The Cards want to challenge now and so Johnson seems a likely pick if there.

I wrote the same things about Johnson and Waynes recently, although if Marcus Peters has his head on straight, I would say he and Johnson are the best of the batch.

I've been reading and hearing that Steve Keim really likes Damarious Randall as a combo cover CB/S and considers him to be the best cover DB in the draft. We still have been struggling at covering TEs and now Jimmy Graham is in the division. Thus, I think Keim will pull whatever strings he can to draft Damarious Randall. What do you (and everyone) think?

I was told Marcus Peters is Bi-polar. That would explain his erratic behavior while in college.

I didn't see really any ASU games this year (stupid mn TV schedule) but from what I did see and what mayock said about him he is a little too small to cover te but u know last time we drafted an undersized safety from ASU it worked out pretty good #40

I think at 24 this year it's a 2nd Rd. pick anyway pretty much. Johnson would have to be in that 24-34 best prospect range anyway. LT's and CB's as you know are huge in todays game. You don't want to be beat because of lack of talent there. That said, I think Bethel has earned a shot. I would love to see him pushed a bit. Past the 2nd Rd. I don't think it's that worth a shot at this particular position. It won't help you this year much anyway. Maybe down the road more.

Makes sense. Everyone is saying that they really like Gordon too.

Cardinals targets 1st (who I think THEY'RE targeting)

Gordon - RB
DuPree - OLB
Shelton - NT
M. Brown - NT
Gregory - OLB (possibly)
Johnson - CB
One of the O-Lineman (Collons, Erving, Flowers, Peat)

That's 7 sure prospects at the top of their board and at least one of them will almost certainly be there.

Get ready for the trade down possibility.

BUT, I think you and they, will be surprised who is actually still there @ 24.

I can't see any way the Cards would consider Peters with his off-the-field issues. Randall likely projects as a nickel back. I agree his height, weight and strength would not seem to indicate covering TEs would be his forte. He'd be better suited to covering typical slot receivers. He also likes a lot of contact and got away with that in college. In the NFL if he constantly offers run support he likely won't last long. I think he goes in round 2, but he has skills and apparently has a higher ceiling, so he might go at the end of round 1. However, he also raises one of my personal draft red flags. Beware the players who jump more than one round and land in round 1.
