I really don't get the Boston feeling on KJ ( ala drugs or bad attitude ), and think he would make a perfect fit on this team. I think the browns just sort of felt he was a little slow and decided to pick on him. After he fought back a little they benched him and now released him. I would almost rather have a sure handed receiver than heavy speed guy with no hands ( Gillmore ). It would be nice to have two sticky fingers for the wideouts.

Why would that be? Do you have knowledge or is this an assumption on your part? Inquiring minds want to know!

We have a bunch of fast recievers on the team so now I would like someone who can, you know, CATCH the damn ball. I would at least like to have a consistant WR across from Anquan. I doubt we'll claim him off of waivers and he probably won't sign here. Although we're a team he knows he'd be an instant starter for.

They're both Syracuse guys. Graves might as well gim him a call. I had him on my fantasy team last year, nothing spectacular but better than Gilmore or Kasper could ever do.

The Cardinals should definately bring this guy in! Under $400K for the remainder of the season. Check him out Rod, Dave! What would be the downside.... None!

His base salary for 2003 is $950,000, which means any team assuming his current deal will owe him a pro-rated portion based on remaining games, or about $391,000. Johnson was under contract through 2006, with scheduled base salaries of $1.45 million (2004), $1.4 million (2005) and $2.65 million. There were annual workout bonuses of $100,000.

That's why I don't think the Cards would pick him up off waivers...and why if given the opportunty to sign with any team, would he go from one 3-6 team to another. I would love to have him...I just don't see it happenning. Especially with the way the season has unfolded thus far. But I'm no Nostradamus...just my opinion...

On a related note: Anybody notice Grady Jackson last night (MNF - Packers vs Eagles). He played a very good game for a fat guy!

Jttsaz, if I read the thread correctly, someone commented that due to his "veteran status" that KJ would be granted UFA status for next season. Therefore, if the Cardinals were to pick him from waivers they would only be liable for the prorated portion of this years salary. Like I said... No downside!

Trust me, some folks will see a downside to signing him. I think this is just the latest in a year long series of opportunities that have presented themselves to the Cards. I hope they move on this one.

I think what screws it all up is his options bonus of $2 million...If your right The I say sign him..hell they resigned Nate Poole and tried to sign Tay...I know they could use a #1 0r #2 legit starter...

I think we should give him a call. But do you actually think we're going to sign him considering the track record Graves has had with this type of situation all year. I bet anything Rod comes out next week and says that he is happier with our current core of WRs.

One big reason I want him is because we have a lot of potential sitting in the nurses office. Is Boldin our only WR who's played every game? Kasper had a good preseason but he's hurt (I like him but he seems to be hurt a lot) Johnson has shown that he can be a good WR in this league but he's hurt and the rest of our group has been injured and unproductive. During one game we only had 2 revievers we could put on the field. Not only do we need warm bodies, this guy can play. He's been the #1 reciever on a good recieving group. As a 5 year vet he may not have great speed but he knows how to get open.

"It doesn't take any talent to read a stopwatch," says Arizona coach Dave McGinnis. "It takes a talent to evaluate people."

This quote is interesting when it comes to Bryan Gilmore and the inevitable coming from Cards HQ regarding Johnson...

Exactly. It's not like our wideouts have to go through a lot of in-depth game-planning as it is (obviously) or has to worry about audibles.

This would be similar to the Pats releasing Lawyer Milloy and him getting picked up by the Bills, who played the Pats that week.

Hell, he's got a grudge against that squad. Pick him up for a week and cut him again, and let him sign with the next team. He could be the GrudgeMaster for the rest of the season.

one'll get you ten that he's not in a Cardinals uniform this Sunday. Personally, I think he'd be a good fit in San Fran, and it'll help ease the pain of getting rid of Terrell Owens in the offseason.

OH MY SWEET, GLORIOUS GOD!!! SIGN HIM NOW!!!

I can't believe it! Well, I guess I can. They tried to trade him the past several years...why, I have no idea.

He'll likely go to Philly, and if I were a betting man, that's where I'd lay my money.

What is the $2 million option bonus in 2005, and how would that preclude the Cardinals from claiming him, then cutting him at the end of the season, if so desired?

The bottom line is that you need to sign the guys who upgrade your team.

If you would objectively start Gilmore/McAddley/Kasper/Poole over Johnson then fine, but if not, then it is a mistake not to pick him up.

Plus I think(hope) Graves has learned his lesson from this past offseason, that if you want or need something, you HAVE to pull the trigger when the opportunity presents itself.
