I havent found any details on the contract other than the topline of $62 mm or so with $21 mm guaranteed.

I did see reference to a $7mm roster bonus due sometime this offseason, that bonus being a motivator to the Cardinals to "find out what they have".

My guess on what the contract structure is:

1. It was announced as an extension. That probably means Kolb is getting the salary due to him from his current contract -- around $4mm.

2. I suspect he got a signing bonus in the $10- $14mm range. If at the low end, it would produce a $14mm payment this year, around starting QB range. If at the high end, it likely means that the signing bonus + the $7mm roster bonus coming due is all of the guaranteed money.

Its quite possible that the Cardinals have already eaten most of the guaranteed money in the deal.

They are probably right, but that podcast is horrible.

Oh, it's dreadful. I only still listen to it out of habit.

For Cbus: What they were saying at the time was that it was a surprising deal to be done just then, since there was no hurry. They considered it to be a pretty generous deal even when Fitzpatrick was playing well.

It's uncommon to hear criticism because you don't often see awful quarterbacks getting big contracts like we gave to Kolb and the Bills gave to Fitzpatrick.

But I'd guess if you took a poll of the board right now, 60% of the posters would rather have Fitzpatrick than Kolb right now, even though they're being paid the same.
