No, 1) Jake could contort his body and seldom got sacked 2) Jake was far more reckless with the ball which accounted for the big plays as well as the mistakes which overshadowed it 3) Kolb has a stronger arm than Jake

Jake got sacked tons of time early in his career. He got better but the early years when everyone was complaining the OL wasn't that good I kept pointing out that the sacks increased dramatically as soon as Jake became the starter because like most young QB's he held the ball too long thinking he could make a play.

Unfortunately he also had the bad habit of if you don't take the sack, throw the ball up for grabs.

No, no, no & no.

Jake had more of a swashbuckling style. Kevin's more of a systems guy.

Both have displayed resiliancy, I guess, but that's about it.

What I meant to say is that Jake was hard to sack in the pocket or out of it, Kolb is easier to sack in comparison...though they both get sacked of course with the long history of super OLs we have had since that time :D

For some reason any Cardinal QB who leads the team to a win after throwing an interception to put the team behind is compared to Jake Plummer. I know posters on this board did that with Skelton.

I wouldn't be surprised that if I did the research I'd find some reference somewhere to Max Hall being the new Jake Plummer. :D

Did anyone ever say it with Kurt Warner?

And, for clarification, Max Hall was the new Drew Brees.

We were told he was the new Brees, he turned out to be the new Eddie Gaedel.

In case anyone cares.

It is kind of cool that we join this board before going to college and is working at KTAR and covers the most sports teams in AZ.

has to do well to earn the job too, just seems a lot of them I open are one paragraph long and say nothing.

Although, I rarely visit that website due to that so maybe I am jaded.

I never heard that. The only Max Hall reference to Brees I remember was in regard to size not ability. But I'm old and forget things so it might have happened.

Only an idiot would include Warner in this conversation. Because there were few if any instances of Warner throwing an interception, getting the team in a hole early and then leading a miracle comeback for a win.

I mentioned Warner in jest. Mostly to point out most QB's throw interceptions to put their teams in holes once in a while. Like Warner did in the Super Bowl, only to lead a miraculous touchdown. No I am not comparing Plummer or Kolb to Warner.

Before we played the Saints they kept talking about that and then before the game they showed them greeting each other. But yeah nobody ever said Hall is going to be Brees, just that Brees was an example of a good short QB.

Just like now with Russell Wilson.

What the heck? Does anyone agree with this guy? I mean, I guess you could compare the fact that Kolb helped the team to win it in the end, but this is just one game. This was the first game Kolb threw an interception this year. I don't think Kolb and Plummer are the same QB's

I still do no know who Kolb is. He has not been lights out nor has he been bad. Defense has really helped our 4-0 record. I just hope Kolb can play mistake free ball and not turn the ball over. He seems to stand in the pocket this year and clearly has some confidence. He also can miss some easy throws that a Tom Brady or Drew Brees would not. Can he improve or have we seen the best Kolb has to offer? I have no idea.

Kolb is ten times better than Plummer in not digging his own giant hole to come out of, it's apples and oranges.

He has some spunk to him, I like him really I do, he was nails hanging in that last game, whoever said he was scared obviously was watching another guy, he's not scared he's running for his life a lot true.

I think being benched had some to do with him getting a new attitude too, it changed him a bit in a good way.

I'll have to see him throw it left handed before I decide. Oh, and is he good at handball?

We could hope Kolb ends up in this land:

39. Jake Plummer 29,253 1997-2006 2TM

That would be his all time passing yards ranking.

No problem with someone disagreeing with the assertion, it is an opinion piece after all. However, the gist is that a QB who tends to make some of the dumbest throws you'll ever see also has the ability to bounce back and bring his team with him.

That's the comparison I was trying to make. If you disagree, fine. If I failed to present that clearly, that's my bad.

Haha, my cover is blown. Certainly don't post here as much as I used to (oddly enough working on the internet gives me less time to post on...the internet. Still check in from time to time, still get a good idea of how the Valley feels about the teams by reading what's going on here. Great resource).

Only thing I can say on this is not very much at all. However, if it has my mugshot on it (columns) know it is something I really hang my hat on. Some of the other stuff, whether it's an article based off another site's story or a story based around a quote or two, is more of the "part of the job" requirement. Don't get me wrong, I stand behind everything with my byline. But I do look at some of what I write in a very different light.

I know it has probably been said, but really? Bringing up Jake Plummer? Arrrgh! Come on Greenie.

It was something I thought of watching the game Sunday, did a little research on and decided made an apt comparison. No problem with someone thinking I'm wrong, especially you, Mulli. :)

You know he is a poster on here right?

Hi there! Ha, don't mind people calling me out, comes with the territory and at the very least it means people are reading/reacting. Not that I write anything just to get a reaction -- every opinion piece I write is genuinely my opinion. But I have zero issue with someone reading my stuff and thinking I'm dumb.

Upon further review, I accept the comparison. As someone who once worshipped Jake the Snake, it is just a painful subject. :)
