We were joking in the game thread that it was a designed screen pass so many Carolina defenders came through untouched.

Perhaps we may have figured out why Levi sucks so bad in pass pro. He thinks every pass is a screen

Kevin had an impressive debut; unfortunately the only thing the media wants to talk aoubt is Cam Newton's performance :bang:

Did anyone else nearly have a heart attack when Kolb dove with his arm out for the fumbled pitch to Beanie with two huge Carolina defenders landing on him?

Warner flashback.

I did.. Would have been worse than Warners.. It was Kolbs throwing arm.

That's what happens when you break the alltime rookie record for a rookie in game 1 of his career by tossing for 422 yards and making a mockery of our secondary... :(

I've been searching for all those games where we held a 3 score lead and still passed the ball on every down but I'm not having much luck. Could you list a few of them for us so we can go back and review them. Thanks in advance.

Yep, far too many emotions happening all at once during that play.

Lost in all the Newton hysteria:

Kolb had the third-best QB rating of the week at 130.0, behind only Fitzpatrick's 133.0 and Rodgers' 132.1.

Also, Kolb has now thrown for 300+ yards in 4 of his 8 NFL starts.

There wasn't a single game last season where we had 300+ yards passing. We start a QB raw and learning the system on the fly and he hits that mark (under duress much of the game, mind you). And Carolina's D isn't horrible.

I couldn't stress this more. He may fall back to earth a bit this week on the road, but the fact that the unproven/inexperienced QB did this in a lockout-shortened offseason after changing teams (and coasts) is significant. I have high hopes.

And.... he pulled this off without much help from Fitz. The Panthers, as most teams will try to do, schemed to take Fitz out of the game. And for the most part it worked. Yet, Kolb was able to get the rest of the gang involved and was able to make the rest of the offense work sans Fitz.
That bodes well for what might lie ahead this year!

18 of 29 309 yards and 2TD's..Zero Int's and a QB rating over 130.00

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? With that kind of pressure?

I know its only one game. But in all seriousness he should get better as the season goes along and he is in this O longer.

Forgot to mention Kolb completed almost 67% of his passes

Kolb's YPA was a whopping 11.4

:iwin:

I have been very disappointed that Kolb got about zero mention on anything in the various media outlets in the Midwest. It is though he did not exist. Hey reporters we won. Kolb won with good stats and no fumbles or interceptions. Romo who had a bad game and lost was covered like he won the game. Newton took up half of all coverage even though his team lost. I have seen a number of Cards through for 400 yds plus and seems like Boomer threw for 500 yds (?) in one game. Kolb deserved better than this as he is not much more than a rookie himself. I did not even see his name on the quick hits. Hightower is getting more coverage than Kolb. What the hell gives here?

Shhhhh....

Let Cam and all the other glamour boys suck up all the ink.

Keep the Cards zooming just below everyone's horizon line for as long as we can get away with.

That long TD pass to Fitz was most of that yardage but Kolb paid dearly for that with the hit after the pass. In fact I do not know how he even got that long pass off before the hit.

even without the 73 yard TD pass to Fitz, Kolb's yards per attempt was 8.42 which is way above league average.
