"Experts Feel Eagles QB Kevin Kolb Isn't Worth A First Round Pick

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb is ready to move when the transaction freeze is lifted with a new CBA and various analysts have taken to picking apart the 25-year-old in anticipation of him hitting the open market. ESPN‘s “Football Scientist” K.C. Joyner said that he doesn’t believe Kolb isn’t “worth” a first-round pick. “He’s got talent and some experience but he’s making bad decisions at a very high rate,” Joyner said. “If that happens in an Andy Reid offense, it is easy to imagine a total like that increasing in a more high-risk offense.” Kolb, who has tossed 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in his 19 appearances in a conservative offensive scheme, has drawn considerable interest from the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, and San Francisco 49ers. NFL Films‘ analyst Greg Cosell suggested that Kolb also needs a strong running game to be effective. “You must know what he is,” Cosell tweeted of Kolb. “Must be manipulated by the system. Needs a run game. LIke Hasselbeck had Alexander in Seattle.”"

Water isn't worth $100 for a gallon....but if you've been in the desert for 2 days what is a gallon of water worth? .....and yes you'd pay $100 per gallon if you are thirsty enough.

Cards are REAL thirsty!

Even Brady only got through 18 games w/o a running attack and lost the all important 19th.

Eventually the lack of a running attack will hurt any Qb. Some can beat the odds longer, that's it.

I would give up our 2012 1st round pick and perhaps the 3rd round from this year's draft but not our #5 pick.

Yeah, if we could trade back and get into the mid- to late-20's I'd consider it...but otherwise I wouldn't give more than a 2nd.

...and I'd rather have Orton. Orton is Kolb without the risk that he won't develop into an Orton.

There's growing buzz that Harbaugh will try to deal with TB for Josh Johnson - the two apparently have a history and there's somewhat of a position-fit.

That would take SF out of the Kolb running and leave us and the Seahawks (Come on, Pete Carroll! I'm not a big fan of Kolb)

If the Cards wanted to be creative, they could trade the #5 to NE for 17 and 28. Take Kerrigan,Costanzo, or whoever, at 17, and trade 28 for Kolb, or vice versa. I don't know if I would do that, but that would be plausible.

I hope we can get Orton first. If not Kolb or Palmer? IMO we will reach out with a second for these QB's.

I think Orton is a much better QB and is proven to be a pretty good QB. I still want Orton but I would take Kolb rather than get nothing thats for sure.

The reality is...no one knows yet what Kolb is worth...he's largely unproven...has talent and a couple of 300 yard games to suggest it...but more clunkers and concussions, than gems at this point.

The fact that Philly wants to trade him in favor of going with Mike Vick and Mike Kafka...to me...speaks volumes.

A.k.a....caveat emptor.

It's always "buyer beware", but he's an asset that they lose at the end of 2011, and thus the interest in getting something for him.

You don't give up a QB in his mid 20s when you have only a late round pick and a guy who probably only has a couple years left if you think he is a franchise QB. Sure he's an asset, every player is an asset. But he's certainly not worth a 1st round pick at this point.

But hey if Charlie Whitehurst can get a high 2nd rounder then some team is probably bold enough to give up a 1st for Kolb.
