Yankees organization obviously knows talent, while our Dbacks organization doesn't. Well, does at first, then gives them all away!

Our organization seems to neither know talent nor know how to work with it. I will be glad when I see a change of organizational philosophy soon.

Prado with his normal second half output. His OPS was 200 points higher in 2013 in the second half than the first half of the season.

So this has zero to do with Dbacks vs Yankees, everything to do with Martin Prado.

Oh - and for the record, Prado did finish 2013 with 12 more RBI's than Upton did, and was close in OPS and WAR.

Prado has had really nice Aug for the past three years, but last year he hit .255/.297/.372 in Sept. In his career he has better numbers 1st half than 2nd half as well.

Prado's 12 extra RBIs are rather easily explained by the fact that he had 186 PAs and 20 BBs w/RISP to Upton's 137 PAs and 23 BBs. Upton had less chances and saw worse pitches to hit in those chances. Neither excelled much in those situations though.

I'd say it's pretty arguable that it's consensus that OPS differences of 68 points is considered close, especially when PF are taken into effect and show a difference in OPS+ of 18%. Of course this year Upton's probably going to be a top 10 MVP vote getter if he continues the year like he has while Prado hasn't had such a good year despite his current output.

Chris Johnson had a higher OPS than Prado and was also close in WAR...

It does not matter what Prado does for the Yankees, it will always be a horrible trade.

Also, a lot of guys experience a surge when traded from a terrible team to one that is playing for something. Winning and success is contagious, so is losing. Towers put together a horrible team and invariably you can count on some guys playing below their standard as a result of either pressing to try and turn things around, or the depressing nature of knowing by mid-May the competitive portion of the season is already over.

Prado's just a good fit for the Yankees. He's not overpaid compared to the other contracts New York has and he will look good as their utility player who can fill in at a lot of positions and make contact.

In AZ he was tasked to be the 2nd or 3rd best player on the team and he doesn't have the talent to fill that role.

Justin Upton is carrying the Braves. He definitely is a top-5 candidate for NL MVP. Thank you Kevin Towers. :bang:

For that to have worked, Kevin Towers would have had to hire a Manager with the skills to get the most out of him.

We haven't had one of those since Bob Brenly. None of the weak-willed, inexperienced or introverted Managers since would have succeeded.

Right up to the present time, considering the many players who had problems here, then did well elsewhere.

Yup, Towers is the problem, but the problem is much greater than any individual player.

The reason this team sucks is all on Towers. After the 2011 season, the Diamondbacks had such a great future but Towers destroyed that.

Kevin Towers has accumulated a wealth of minor league talent that is the envy of the league. Too bad it is over matched at the major league level.

Perhaps it wouldn't be if Towers' coaching staff knew how to do their jobs.

If Kendrick actually was more committed to winning than to his ego, he wouldn't have hired Tony LaRussa to sit on Towers' shoulder, he would have hired Jerry Colangelo.

Colangelo would not have had any interest in that job.

Think about that! We have a GM who needs someone in a new position in the Front Office to "sit on his shoulder". Is that the formula for winning?

How about the age-old simple formula of firing the incompetent GM instead?

Our team is in the pinnacle of baseball -- the U.S. Major Leagues. Hiring a babysitter for the GM doesn't return you to championship calibre.

Kendrick is still a loser. Just as when he ran Gonzo under the bus for the public to see. Why don't the other owners remove him as Managing General Partner? And let the change flow downhill in a positive direction.

Which would include Towers going back to San Diego.
