Being on the plus side at 6-4 in the W/L column, and heading into the second game after the bye, we face the Colts in what I believe will be a key game for the Cardinals season this year. I say that for several reasons:

1. This game is one that is going to be very meaningful to Bruce Arians, as it is his first game against the team that got him his Coach of the Year award, AND his first shot as a Head Coach in the NFL without it being an interim position. Arians is not shy about saying that this game will have a lot of meaning to him personally.

2. While this team has steadily improved overall each game this season, this is the first game after what appears to be a breakout game for Carson Palmer's offensive unit. This game should go far toward showing whether or not this was actually Palmer's breakout, or just a fluke performance in a rather dismal offensive season thus far.

3. The Colts should be a solid measuring stick against which to see if the Cardinals have attained a level among the upper tier teams in the NFL, or if they are still the same, (fall on your face), team that usually shows up for a critical game just past the midway point in the season.

4. After a 419 yard passing performance that involved nearly everyone on the pass-receiving roster, (and with Michael Floyd coming off his best game ever), the defensive emphasis may be more on Floyd this week, giving Larry Fitzgerald a shot at more single coverage than he has seen for a good while. We might just get a chance to see if Fitz can be THAT guy again.

A win at home against the Colts would give the Cardinals some much needed confidence going forward into the season. While a hard-fought loss would not necessarily take us out of the playoff hunt, a (bad) loss in a poorly played game would almost surely do exactly that. One of the culture changes sought by BA and company, is how to avoid the deflation of this team's normally fragile psyche, and this game could cause the Cards to go either way, depending on how the Red Birds play. We just avoided what could easily have been a trap game, and showing up strong against a valid playoff contender in a meaningful game could go a long way to changing the culture of the fragile psyche here in the desert.

After the way the Rams manhandled the Colts in Indy, I sure hope we come out strong and dominate from the first snap.

The Colts are a decent team with a bright future, but seriously - they lost 38-8 at home to the Rams?

Excellent points, Catfish...

When it comes to football, or sports in general, I consider myself to be an optimist/realist. Hoping for the best but always very aware of my teams' short-comings.

I agree that the Colts' game is HUGE for a variety of reasons. You always want to keep the momentum and positive vibes going. GOOD things happen when teams are feeling good. It's human nature to "feed" off the positive.

Obviously, a win over the Colts, or for that matter, a "quality" opponent gets the media's attention like nothing else. ie; "Hey, did you hear what the Cardinals did?"

Thing is, to be where this team is, to even have this opportunity, to me is...REMARKABLE!

QUICK REVIEW:

Our QB play for most of the year has been difficult (ie; cringe-worthy) to watch. Now, it's certainly not all on the QB as the line has to block and runners have to get yards. NO TEAM wins consistently when it's 3 & 8 all the time! PERIOD!

Our WR's have been pretty much "hamstrung" all year. (ie; Fitz') Give the guy lots of credit for gutting it out but he is clearly not able to go 100%. Add in Roberts who drops too many "gotta' have it" catches. ...But, suddenly, our TE's are actually contributing. I think that's one of the over-looked "keys" in our recent improved play. Move the chains! Keep the D off the field and fresh.
That reserve of energy shows up in the 4th quarter.

The "D" has just been FUN to watch! Tenacious, in-your-face, get after 'em ATTACK-STYLE! LUV' IT! :D

Summing up, with all the clearly works-in-progress on this team, we somehow managed to get to 6-4 and that makes us relevant at this point.

It's been awhile since we've had the excitement of looking forward to a late-Nov. game. At home to boot! THIS is the FUN part of being a fan.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT MY CARDINAL FRIENDS!!

If the Colts handle us easily then their is no way we make the playoffs. Even if we win I doubt we make it to the dance.

They beat Seattle also. We have to be at our best to win this one. They are a good team.

They are a team that plays to the level of their competition. So I hope they think they are playing the 2012 Cardinals.

One would hope so. But some times games like that fire up a team. Look how fired up Jax started the game against us.

If we want playoffs they are all key at this point.

This. If anything, this game matters less than the other games on the schedule excepting Tennessee (out of division, out of conference, etc.). It matters because it's at home, but that's about it.

I disagree. They are a team with poor offensive tackles who faced a Rams team with excellent DEs. Matchup problem that did not allow Luck the time to throw when the running game was shut down.

So with Abraham being rejuvenated this might work in our favor is what you are saying. Wonder how well their line handles blitzes?

Niners and Hawks rushers aren't exactly slouches either, but they handled them.
