Looks like Skkorp got his wish. Kasper won't be returning kickoffs this weekend. Now the Cards will have someone with blazing speed back there, not the slow white guy who is ranked 4th in the NFL right now.

Arizona could be without three wideouts against 'Hawks

Associated Press
Sept. 10, 2003 04:20 PM

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona Cardinals are thankful they kept six wide receivers on their 53-man roster, because three of them could miss Sunday's game against Seattle because of injuries.

Larry Foster and Kevin Kasper are listed as doubtful with ankle and back injuries, respectively, and Brian Gilmore is questionable with a knee injury. This on a team that lost its top three receivers to free agency in the offseason, notably David Boston and Frank Sanders.

This week, rookies Anquan Boldin and Bryant Johnson look like the starters, with second-year pro Jason McAddley as the No. 3 receiver.

That's not all bad - Boldin is coming off a record-shattering debut in Detroit where he caught 10 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-24 loss to the Lions. That's the best first game ever for an NFL receiver

Gilmore ran a bit Wednesday on a water treadmill and will try to practice Thursday, but he wasn't optimistic that he'd be ready by Sunday.

Foster was virtually certain he wouldn't be able to play, and Kasper was having trouble just walking through the locker room.

Johnson, a first-round pick, was taken ahead of Boldin, a second-rounder, but quickly fell behind him on the depth chart. Johnson caught one pass for seven yards last week, and plans to make the most of this weekend's opportunities.

McAddley caught 25 passes as a rookie last year, the most of any receiver on Arizona's current roster. But he was slowed by an ankle injury in preseason and found himself No. 6 on the depth chart. He was inactive for last week's opener.

Offensive coordinator Jerry Sullivan said it's a situation he has to deal with, whether he likes it or not.

"You dance with who brung ya, and that's what you've got," he said. "I'm going into the game with the idea we've got Bryant, we've got Anquan and we've got Jason McAddley - and maybe one of the other guys."

I have a feeling that we'll see alot of Hodgins in the game.

Good - man can block & hit.

Does anyone know the definitions of injury status?

I heard today that "Doubtful" was like 25% less chance of playing. Are there percentages for the other statuses?

I think people are obsessed with guy because he's probably our most reliable reciever (well maybe behind Boldin) He doesn't get any love from the team or reporters and he probably should! I hope he plays so he can prove all the doubters wrong!

I think it is: "doubtful" = 25% chance of playing
"questionable" = 50% chance of playing
"probable" = 75% chance of playing

yeah Renz hit it exactly. How it is nowadays in the NFL...

Probable = YOU PLAY, with pain
Questionable = YOU PROBABLY PLAY, with painkillers
Doubtful = IT'S QUESTIONABLE IF YOU PLAY, without feeling/movement in certain body parts
Out = TORN ACL

A better question is why are you so obsessed with me? You always seem to have some ******** comment after most of my posts(Kasper Related or not). I'm flattered that you sit by the CPU waitng for me to post so you can spout off. Everyone has a favorite player on the team, Kasper happens to be mine. And because of that a good portion of my posts will be about him.

Deal with it

I agree Kasper has shown me as much as any other WR on this team and yet it seems he has to fight for a job. Does McAddley even play for us. I would as soon see Johnson, Boldin, Kasper as my wideouts. I think we should have gone for Freeman but to late now.

Hey, I don't know if Skkorp really hates Kasper, but I think you're thinking of me. I'd rather have Mar Tay back there.

Kasper will be out of football next season.

We'll see. He began the season at the bottom of a depth chart on arguably the thinnest WR corp in the NFL. If we take Roy Williams or another late-round WR prospect in the 2004 draft, Kasper's toast.

K9:

I'll be surprised if the Cardinals waste a selection in next year's draft on a wide receiver. They already have one of the youngest--if not "the thinnest"--groups of WRs in the league. More likely, if no one on the current roster steps up alongside Boldin, the Cards will try to sign a quality veteran wideout.

Kasper sticks as the starting kick returner, unless he can't stay healthy, until someone takes his job away. Scobey and McAddley couldn't, this year. Kasper may not be a Pro Bowl KR, but he's not that far removed, especially for what it costs to keep him on the roster.

Lots of dump passes to Emmitt and Marcell. More looks to Freddie and a bunch of slants to Boldin. An occasional tosh to Johnson and McAddley............We'll be fine.
