Stuck at work and wasnt sure where to vent so this place is like my second home.

Turns out a lump my brother has is not a cyst(sp?) after being given a biopsy and is most lekely a tumor. A million thoughts are racing through my mind. Being 8 years apart we never really got the chance to be close. He joined the Navy when I was 10.

I cant imagine the thought of never even getting the chance to be closer. I am about to get married and settle down and I always thoguht that would be the time when we started doing real family things together.

So the next test is the big one I gather. And I am hopeful. But I am a worry wart by nature and kind of have an empty feeling in my stomach.

Sorry I rambled on a bit.

Best of luck to your brother. Cancer's a bitch, but keep in mind that lots and lots of people beat it everyday; in fact, I think we even have at least a couple on the board here.

I have a lump on my uvuala(sp) (that little thing in the back of your throat that looks like a red tear drop) from chewing for 15 years. It's not cancerous, but I need to get it looked at twice a year. I freaked out when I found it, kinda like you are about your brother. Hoepfully it's just a growth, like mine.

No matter what, if you want to get to know your brother better, why not start today?

If it's okay with you, I'll pray for your brother this week that this will be able to be healed and maybe it wont be as bad as it could be.

Hang in there swd. The biggest thing is the attitude of the affected person. Tell your brother to be positive and go full speed forward and don't jump to conclusions. The hardest part is waiting for test results. Good luck to you and your brother.

As I try to teach my son... Friends come and go; but your family will always be your family!

See this occurrance as an opportunity! And prayers for your brother's health.

MadCardDisease (Mike Terlizzi) went through a similar thing last year. He may have some insight.

I hope everything turns out Ok for him.

Yep. I found a lump in my armpit and went through the whole biospy thing. Then they told me I had Cancer. Let me just tell you, the worst part is finding out you have Cancer and not knowing what to expect. It was a week before I could see an Oncologist. That was the longest week of my life. After reading stuff on the internet I was convinced that my cancer was uncurable. That didn't turn out to be the case.

My only advise is tell him not to panic. If it is cancer tell him to stay positive. I believe that is why I was able to make it through this whole ordeal. I refused to feel sorry for my self and decided to fight this thing to the bitter end.

Cancer changes your life. You realize that life can be short and your priorties change. If he does have cancer I recomend he reads Lance Armstrongs book. I went through many of the things Lance went through and was able to relate. His story helped me to keep up the fight.

I've been in remission for over a year now and I just turned 30. My wife is pregnant with our first child and is due in May. Life goes on and I feel like the luckiest man alive.

My wife had a double mastectomy 3 years ago so I understand your feelings. A few months ago an MRI showed a brain tumor. The tumor turned out to be benign and close to the scalp and surgeon said it was common and no need to remove it. She is doing great today. My prayers are with you buddy.

Swd, I hope all goes well for him. If he's young, piece of cake. I've been in remission for 10 years now.
