Bodha.... I was mentioning top 10 LBer picks and they were the first two that came to mind. Hawk was #5 IIRC. Not too shabby. And he was a stud in college. People liked him much better than Laurenitis (sp?). That goes to show you how hard they are to evaluate.

Teo would be an epic replacement for Paris Lenon. Remember, Paris is the captain and general on the field, and Teo has the smarts to do that as well. I would not be upset if we took him, despite our other glaring needs. Could literally be a top 10 all time defense with a LB core of Acho, Dwash, Teo and Scho

Are you being serious here?

Acho & Scho are not even worth discussing at this point based on production.

Are you kidding? Best defense since 1994 that started the week after Acho took over for Joey Porter? And you are saying they aren't any good?

USA Today had the top QBs listed at this time for next years draft and other information about then. Good discussion on QBs these days making an immediate impact. That is in the Monday edition. I think Tyler Wilson was 3 or 4 and they said that the loss of Petrino as coach hurt him bad in play calling. They failed to mention his three wide receivers from last year are now all in the NFL. That sort of hurts you would think.

It hurts his projection, actually. Luck had no struggles with a major change in staff, and it's pretty clear he was largely running the offense on his own in college. He also had no great receivers at any point.

Wilson, like all the other Petrino QBs, is a product of the system and surrounding talent. He's not a stellar talent beyond that. He's big and has a big arm. So what.

arrington was athletic but a major headcase. hawk is a roid guy.

Te'O looks like a legit kid he's probably one of 2 guys I'd take in the top 10 who aren't a QB or an OL, the other would probably be Jarvis Jones. Like Lotuleilei bunches but in our defense he'd come off the field too often like Williams does.

Manti can play most downs, so can Jones.

There are concerns with Jones remember part of why he left USC was their doctors wouldn't clear his neck injury. NFL teams probably know all about it but it will be intriguing in the draft to see if he falls as a result. If he checks out medically he'll go very high.

Manti is so good and just what we need next to D Wash. I want a QB and an OL but if you're going to take a kid from ND high in the first round it should be someone like Manti.

OK that makes sense. Though that would be a very good LB corps I don't think they make top 10 all time because they would be a 3-4 LB group and neither Schofield nor Acho are top tier pass rushers.

One thing I don't understand about our pass rush. Horton doesn't seem to like to bring pressure from the outside. Both Schofield and Acho line up tight most of the time unlike other teams who get real wide against us. I also don't see many outside blitzes. Almost all of the blitzes come up the middle. I guess that is a result of being in the 2-4-5 all the time so we have to bring both OLBs for a 4 man rush whereas with a true 3-4 only one of the OLBs rushes the passer.

Kiper has 4 of his top 5 in the '13 draft playing in the front 7 on D... I don't typically follow draft predictions so far before it, is he typically like this, or is he just that impressed with these guys?

Dude.... Lavarr Arrington was a Heisman finalist and was blowing up people all year at Penn State. He was the #2 pick in the draft for a serious reason. He was a man child and (in all honesty) was making more impactful plays for the Nittany Lions than Teo has made this year. He was flat out INSANE that year. Then what.

Hawk was considered to have transcendent skills coming out of Ohio State. The complete LB'er. Then what.

Don't get me started on some of the others.....

I'm talking as a prospect, bro.

I watched Arrington most of his college career. Dude was a freak, but he also rubbed me the wrong way. Take this for what you will, but I was never too excited about Hawk.

Teo just screams franchise defender to me.

anybody who doesn't think Hawk was an absolute monster at OSU doesn't know what they are talking about. He was usually the best player on the field every game. Just because he hasn't had that kind of impact at the pro level doesn't mean he wasn't a force at OSU.

Katzenmoyer & Laurinitus were the same... Monsters at OSU and marginal pros. You can even add Wilhelm to that list of stud OSU backers that flamed out in the NFL.

It isn't lost on me that all of these LBs that you guys are talking about turned out to be, at least, good NFL players. Katzenmoyer washed because of injuries, not because he sucked. Hawk, Laurinitus, Arrington were or are at least integral, good players on their team. I'm more intrigued by Tyler Wilson but Teo wouldn't be a pick that I hated.

They say there is no Jake Long or Andrew Luck in this class and his

value will rise because of it.

I agree their is no Luck in this class. Wilson may drop further than he should because of the bad team he plays on. I would be very pleased if we got Wilson. Some of the teams who may draft ahead of us will likely already have a QB. If it takes a trade to move up to take the QB we think is best I would do it. It should not cost much as we have no Luck or RG111 it appears in this class and we will already be drafting probably in the top 5-7. Wilson is a very smart kid as well as having good size and being very very tough. There is no doubt who the team leader has been in the past two years. He has been playing against the best college players in America in the SEC for the past two years. He will not be running backwards and is a pocket passer who will stand in there.

Nonsense. Laurinaitis is a very good pro LB and Katzenmoyer was starting for a veteran-laden Belichick defense as a rookie. I guess if you consider a career ending neck injury flaming out, :doi:, then Katzenmoyer flamed out. Also, Hawk was better than both of them at OSU.
