I have a hard time seeing Watson being the guy they hang their hat on. Accuracy and arm strength have always been important to Bruce and his offense. Watson checks a lot of boxes but the ones he doesn't are typically what Arians covets in a quarterback.

watson is a winner, racking up like 800 passing yards against alabama defense in 2 matches, where other qbs struggled to put a rating over 80

If he's there I think they have to take him. Got to go for it some time. He's a winner.

A natural bias favoring the Cards drafting a QB - After the top few teams are linked to QB's in most mocks, the next QB-interested team down the list seems to be the Cards.

Does this mean we'll draft a QB at #13? Probably not - it's just what a few draft pundits are saying. But you never know...

He sure did. I haven't seen anyone carve up Bama like that since Johnny
Manziel granted it wasnt in the NC but he torched em, twice. How many guys have had amazing college careers and not been able to transition the NFL?

Oh and I'm not comparing Watson to Manziel just pointing out that success against Alabama shouldn't have anything to do with where a player is drafted. Watson does a lot of things right and if he's the pick I'm completely on board with it I just don't see it.

If he is viewed as a FQB he doesn't fall to us anyway.

I thought this past season Alabama's Achilles heel was their secondary? I sort of remember people talking if they don't win the title it's because of their secondary.

Cardinals have so many options for the first pick. I hope they get an offer to trade down and wind up with the later 1st and two 2nds. So many ways to go with those three picks. I like the top 4 QB' s pretty equally. I'd take a flyer on one of them if we're picking late teens-twentys. Otherwise you got to go CB or Foster, mtl.

But I'd love to have those two 2nds, especially this year.

Doesn't mean he can't be successful but that's not very good company.

This is pretty convincing argument, especially when you look at the names. I also wonder if the game plan the Clemson OC drew up had more to do with Watson success against Alabama than Watson himself. Maybe the Clemson personnel matched up favorably against Alabama. There are a lot of factors that go into success or failure against opponents.

Interesting. Thank you for posting that. I learned something.

Also, surprised at Trubisky's 55 watching the combine the ball seemed to jump outta his hand. I guess the rule can deceive.

And wow for Mahones velocity!

You're welcome.

Gabriel was a scout for decades and he doesn't think it's a big deal. Not sure what to really make of it but I'd imagine teams would be a little concerned.

Only problem with Watson, as has been mentioned, is that he is a mismatch with Bruce Arians.
Watson would be ideal in a more West Coast style, move and shoot offense. Arians wants to fire cannons downfield
on every play.

Watching Tom Brady move down the field against all comers in the playoffs was a thing of beauty, and it hardly looked like he
ever threw more than ten yards. Just marched the ball though.

Watson is a gamer, and a thinker, but isn't a throw-it-over-the-barn kind of player. He'll succeed if matched to the appropriate
OC and gameplan. His velocity is lower and his accuracy on deeper balls has always be mediocre.

Mahomes, Kizer and Webb are the best fits for BA's offense. BA would have to recalibrate the offense for Watson, Trubisky and Peterman and make it more West Coast with QB pocket shifts.

I like all 3 for the offense we run, although Mahomes might send Bruce to early retirement.

Agree with you on the qbs for Arians system. However, Keim has to make the final decision on who is best long term for the Cards.
