The Big 10 and their consistantly poor showings in bowl games is a huge reason people are clamoring for a playoff system. If OSU and Penn State didn't continuously make it to big games and crap the field, people wouldn't be so upidy about it. Big 10 needs to be on Bowl suspension for suckiness

Could say the same thing about Oklahoma. This year OSU and Penn State were both the underdogs and expected to get handled. Last year, OSU had no business being in the championship game and wouldn't have been if the whole SEC and pretty much all the tops teams hadn't choked the last 2 weeks of the season. Before that it was Michigan, not Penn State crapping in games.

I remember a few people saying that about Peterson. Peterson>Levi

How many superbowls has AD been to? ;)

Im almost certain that Wells has had more of a troublesome past with injuries than Petereson.

You'd be wrong. He sophmore and junior years almost 50% of his teams games were missed or limited action.

Like Joe said I prefer Moreno but if he is gone and Wells is there I run up to the podium. I only buy the Big 10 to a degree. At #31 its worth the risk as each guy is an entity to himself.

I can't get past Moreno being a star in the league though. After watching him for 8 or so games the last 2 seasons he has "it" IMO. He has Tomlinson type game if you ask me.

Wells has had more injuries, but they were all minor injuries, Peterson had 2 major injuries in college, one that happened from him diving into the end zone if memory serves me.

You are going to like this Cbus, becuase Mel Kipers Rival and fellow ESPN draft guru Todd McShay also put out his mock draft and he to picked Wells for the Cards.
i hope those guys are right, for once.

that's not it at all. The controversy this years was Texas beat Oklahoma on a neutral field but Okie got to the NC game with the same record. The year before,it wasn't OSU getting in but LSU getting in with 2 losses over other 2 loss teams. When OSU played Florida they were the unquestionably the #1 team going into the NC game.

As for the Big 10 sucking, i can't really argue with that. OSU finally had a "decent" showing last year against Texas but them sucking isn't the reason for calling for a playoff system. The thing that isn't fair is the Big 10 and Pac 10 not having a conference championship game. Either all the conferences should have one or all of them shouldn't. It just evens out the playing field.

You can add Rashard Mendenhall to that list as well.

If you go further back you get names like Micheal Bennett, Ron Dayne, Curtis Enis and Tim Biakabutuka before you get to Eddie George in 1996. Those are all the Big Ten backs taken in the first round, not just cherry-picking the ones that fit the bust or underacheiver label.

Once you get past George, the trend continues with Curtis Enis, Tyrone Wheately, Robert Smith, Vaughn Dunbar and finally Blair Thomas in 1990.

That's almost 20 years of draft history and you've got Eddie George and maybe Larry Johnson as truly successful backs to come out of the Big Ten.

Robert Smith not a truly successful back? Yeah, that's just dead wrong.

Yea you're probably right. He just had a weird, short career.

He never had more than 300 carries or 7 touchdowns but he retired at the age of 28 after the best season of his career. Still though he averaged 4.8 yards per carry and had just over 8,000 yards in his eight year career.

I wish people wouldn't make blanket statements about things they don't know about...

Winningest Bowl Teams of All Time

Nittany Lions, Trojans Top the List

By Tim Hyland, About.com

Penn State tops the list with a record of 26-12-2, good enough for a .675 winning percentage in the program's 40 all-time bowl appearances. The rest of the top 10, ranked by winning percentage in a minimum of 20 bowl appearances, is as follows: 1. Penn State: 26-12-2 (0.67500)
2. USC: 30-16-0 (0.65217)
3. Mississippi: 19-12-0 (0.61290)
4. Georgia Tech: 22-14-0 (0.61111)
5. Oklahoma: 24-16-1 (0.59756)
6. Georgia: 24-16-3 (0.59302)
7. Alabama: 31-21-3 (0.59091)
8. Auburn: 19-13-2 (0.58824)
9. Florida State: 20-14-2 (0.58333)
10. Miami (Fla.): 18-13-0 (0.58065)
http://collegefootball.about.com/od/bowlgames/a/bowls-top10.htm

That includes being 10-5 (.500) in bowls in the last 20 years and 4-2 (.500) in bowls in the last 10 years.

And btw, Joe Paterno has been one of the earliest and most consistent voices for a Div I college football playoff system.

Early rumors from Browns and Buckeye's boards say Wells ran a 4.39 yet the rest of the Buckeyes ran times similar to their pro day times. If true then you can't blame OSUs track and it shows Wells just had a bad day at the combine.

Also it means he will be gone by 16 for sure if true.

Just remember, Boldin ran like 4.7 at the combine. Combine times are highly overrated.

Did he go to our high school? :)

Its the only logical explanation i can think of. Speaking of good ol' Glendale High, we should set up a recruiting trip. I was really ticked when all those eagles and cowboys fans went in our stadium and acted like it was theirs. Gather up a few homeboys to join A$FN, and we wont have that problem at all in the future

I will be thrilled with either Wells or McCoy... Both I think are damn good. But I prefer McCoy...
