Skelton was drafted late, which is not bad for a backup that we can be confident will be able to fill in with poise (we can't say the same about Hall). I don't think that pick prevents Whiz from using #5 here. Theoretically I'd be more concerned about the DA/Hall evaluations. But we don't actually know that the pursestrings didn't play a big part in the DA signing.
Because the QB situation is such a mess, projecting the Cards taking a QB at #5 is the easiest story sell a pundit can make. I don't take it as seriously as I do some of the projections for other teams.
Personally I think I'm still hoping for a pass rusher as well. I do disagree with Kiper about #5 being the Cards' only shot at a productive QB in this draft. Not to mention the possibility, however slim, of trading down.
