Kiper's latest mock has Everette Brown slipping to us at 31. Interesting...

Has Donald Brown going at #23 and English slipping to round 2.

This guy's only job is the predicting/covering the NFL draft and in his FINAL mock draft before the actual draft the clown has Tyson Jackson going #3 to KC??!?! WTF? The Raiders picking an OT with both receivers still on the board.

I wouldnt mind Everette Brown one bit. Just hope he pans out better than the last FSU guy we drafted.

If Kiper is focusing more on matching player to team rather than player to draft slot, he might be right about T Jackson. (Pioli might have let it be known the kid reminds him of Richard Seymour) but expects KC to trade out of the #3-hole in order to draft Jackson where he'd be a better value. (Personally, I think that move might be risky - recent buzz has at least a couple of other Top 10 teams considering Jackson. For that reason, I have KC keeping the pick, skipping Curry and grabbing (heh heh) "the best available NG" (Raji) as his 3-4 anchor.

I realize the conventional wisdom has Big Al always going after the glamor skill-position pick (A few years ago, the conventional wisdom had him always drafting the "player most likely to serve time in jail"). But although that makes Maclin and Crabtree logical choices, he also has to protect his investment in Jamarcus Russell by drafting one of the top 4 LT's (Smith, Monroe, Oher and the Bra Model) to protect Russell's blind side.

I have heard that Tyson Jackson has really been rising.

One of the reasons given is that there are a lot of boom or bust type players in ths years draft. Jackson, because he is a true defensive end and teams don't have to try to project him doing something different from what he has done in his college career, is a easier to evaluate and hence a safer pick.

It's also an interesting year in that there are a lot of 3-4 OLBs in this draft and few guys who can play both a 3-4 defensive end and a 4-3 defensive end. Jackson benefits from being one of the few players that that has the size to be an end in either scheme.

Look at a guy like Brian Orakpo. He could be a rush end in a 4-3 but projects as an OLB in the 3-4. A guy like Jackson who carries 20 more pounds than Orakpo is pretty much set where and how you're going to play him.
