KJ + Barkley, or Nash + Amare?

(This is a spinoff from a previous thread)

If you were to start a team today, and had to pick between the two combinations...who would you choose and why? Also, please EXCLUDE the fact that KJ and Barkley made it to the finals.

Me? I'd have to say Nash and Amare. But it's damn close. Defensively I guess KJ and Barkley were better (or were they?) but I'd have to give the nod to Amare and Nash on the offensive end. Plus, Nash to Amare seems to be so deadly right now.

Your thoughts?

How can you ignore the finals trip? That is like asking us to ignroe how productive the Suns have been this year.

Maybe in 2 more years when Amare is a consistant MVP canidate we can talk. However, if we are going off of the 92-93 Suns, KJ-Barkley wins no contest.

Why is everyone ripping on the question...you guys are so crazy sometimes....

Just answer it.

NO, they aren't better...not yet. We'll wait and see what happens. KJ and Barkley took us to the Finals...these two would have to at least duplicate that.

As of now, KJ+Barkley. Maybe in a few years Amare and Nash might be better, maybe even this year, but not yet.

hands down kj-barkley

barkley is a first-time vote HOFer.

and i will argue to the end of time that kj should be in the hall as well.

nash has a long way to go before he's mentioned in the HOF realm.

amare could get there, but he's still a baby. give him time.

KJ and Barkley hands down.

Barkley was one of the 50 greatest players of all-time. MVP. Multiple all-star. Took the team to the finals. Was a superstar in the NBA and a face of the league.

KJ was a consistently great PG who could play D, shoot a mid range jumper, pass and penetrate and had some all-star appearances.

Amare is only in his third year, so you can't compare him to Barkley yet. Amare is not is Barkley's league yet, especially when it comes to taking over a game and being clutch. Amare doesn't board as good as Barkley, but is more explosive around the basket. Wait till Amare is a perennial all-star year in and year out like Barkley and is fighting for the scoring title every year.

Nash is a great offensive point guard but a liability on D, especially on pick and rolls, where he can't shed the pick. He has a hard time a against quicker and stronger PGs, but he has an added bonus of being able to hit from anywhere on the court. Plus he's a much better passer than KJ and a lot more durable.
