Knicks get Tim Thomas and Nazr Mohammed.
Hawks get Michael Doleac and Przybilla.
Bucks get Keith Van Horn.
HoopsHype already has the trade reflected on their board.
From the Knicks standpoint they get the long sought "tall athletic type" in Tim Thomas". Thomas has a 14.1 ppg while he averages 44.3% from the field and 36.2% for three. He grabs 4.9 rpg and gives out 2.1 assists per game. Thomas has two more years on his contract: 2004-05 for $12.9 million and 2005-06 for $13.9 million.
Van Horn produces 16.4 ppg on 44.5% shooting and 37.3% for 3. He grabs 7.3 rpg and gives out 1.8 assists per game. Van Horn is $14.5 million for 2004-05 and $15.7 million for 2005-06.
Van Horn is about 2 1/2 years older than Tim Thomas.
Statisticaly these guys are pretty close. Van Horn is a better outside shooter and Thomas is more athletic. Van Horn rebounds better.
Mohammed has slightly better stats than Doleac: 6.5 ppg to 5 ppg in 17.9 minutes to 14.9 minutes. Mohammed grabbed 5 rpg to Doleac's 4.1 rpg. But he is no where near worth the extra $3.7 million a year. Joel Przybilla is just ballast and his $2.4 million contract will not be renewed.
Van Horn makes $1.6 to $1.8 million more than Thomas.
In spite of this, the Knicks added even more future salareis because Nazr Mohammed makes $5.2 million next year and $5.5 million in 2005-06 while Michael Doleac only makes $1.5 million. Next season the Knicks will START with a salary structure of $97 million.
I certainly hope that the second Knicks pick has a reasonable time limit, because the Knicks are creating an impossible salary structure.
