We know Amare can play well within 3 years, which is what Suns wanted to offer...but 6 years? Now that's the problem.

Sheesh! What exactly does "period" mean. Are you his personal confidant??
You count discount the power of loyalty. The Suns brandished him like damaged good most of last season. If the FO had treated him like he had a future here, it is not impossible he would re-sign, even if NY offered him guaranteed years.

Guaranteed money was the only issue. I've never heard anything different. Amare and the Suns parted amicably.

3 straight L's for the Knickerbockers. Varejao was impressive against Stat.

Stat has always had problems with quick-feeted defenders like Varejao, Joe Anthony, Reggie Evans, Odom at times, etc. They disrupt him well enough for at least help to come in to cause real trouble. He needs to enhance his moves and also be more patient. He is definitely not the complete go-to scorer Kobe/LJB/Wade/Durant are, or even the likes of Pierce/Melo, at least not yet.

Stat always seems to have problems with tall athletic front lines where he cannot out maneuver them.

Yea, he wipes away lumbering PF's who may even be good on defense but can't match his speed. He does well against Duncan because he is quicker than him, of course Duncan plays well against Amare as well.

Yep. He also sometimes has trouble with big immobile guys who are too slow to bite on his fakes. I remember that Olowokandi used to give him a hell of a time.

Exactly. The main issue is however the Suns would not give him consistent chances to really get in game experience to improve. For good reasons, as Nash led offense is much more efficient. Yet, fans attribute Amare's lack of improvement in that aspect solely on his lack of ability instead of at least partially on lack of chances to learn. The reason potential franchise players improve after parting ways with Nash is that they no longer have Nash to cover for their weakness and have to work on overcoming their weakness. That's the world of difference right there. Nothing Nash can do about either.

I see that D'Antoni is back to using a predominantly 7-man rotation, with perhaps a few minutes left over for the others.

The results would be a quick winning streak, then a meltdown over time. It looks like it has already begun.

On any given night, all a ballplayer has to be is better than his opponent. Weariness makes that more and more difficult.

We've seen it before.

The Knicks players will be fatigued by the All-Star break. Amare and Felton are in the top 20 in MPG. The game falls apart once those two are sitting on the bench so D'Antoni is fairly quick to bring them back in. Knicks better take care of Amare before he hurts himself, an injured contract of that stature will burn them for a long long time.

knick fan here. it's nice to see props for amare. i'm thrilled he came over. i reckon he would have stayed with the suns but - as mentioned earlier - management did some odd-ball maneuvers.

anyhow, happy holidays and good luck to your team. the suns have always been one of those teams that - even as an opposing fan - i can appreciate. they're fun to watch and play the game properly.

happy holidays! e

i agree with this...but i think the other factor is that the knicks roster will probably turn-over a bit. these next few days should be interesting...

The situation with Stoudemire leaving Phoenix for New York is very similar to when Nash left Dallas for Phoenix. The earlier one worked out well for the new team, so maybe this one will too.
