Is the price for Garnett higher than the price for Bryant? It shouldn't be.

Right now KG has more trade value then Kobe. Kobe may be the better talent but him going to the media and demanding to be traded to one of a very short list of teams really gives the Suns and Bulls some leverage knowing that Kobe can and most likely will make things very difficult in Lakerland.

KG has neither demanded to be traded or demanded to have a star player to be brought in which means that if Minnesota were to look into dealing him they could ask for whatever they wanted from anyone because KG isn't out there putting pressure on the organization to get something done like Kobe has.

Pg= Nash
SG = Kobe
SF= Grant Hill
PF = Amare
C = Diaw like in 06

Lakers
PG = Jordan / Banks
SG = L. Barbosa
SF = S.Marion
PF = Odom
C = Bynum

Interesting for the Suns to say the least

I'm not sure why I'm even skimming this thread. There is no possible way that anyone could say something that hasn't been said 50 times in the last three and a half years.

If it happens or doesn't happen, I'm just won't care until and unless something actually happens.

And a fine one at that...RIP Dave64...

Dave64 was like a puppy, always wagging his tail and knocking stuff over. And it wasn't just that he'd start threads (like I'd throw rocks on that subject :doi: ), but that they were all inane. He'd fill a page with threads like "Well what about Paul Pierce?" This wasn't a threat or even a topic.

I have no idea how old he is (or was), but it was like talking to an eagar but not very bright 12 year old.

Couldn't do it, I'd cheer for an NBADL team before I could cheer for Kobe in Purple and Orange

so if a trade does happen you're just not a suns fan anymore? okay, see ya. guess you won't be posting much on this board anymore also, huh?

I've never been a Bryant fan, and it would hard at first for me to cheer for him but this lineup:

Nash
Bell
Bryant
Amare
Kurt

Sign me up.

hmm, in an ideal scenario grant hill decides to come here too, so it would be:

nash
bryant
hill
diaw
amare

with bell, kurt, and fill ins on the bench

no way dantoni starts kurt.

Make no mistake, Bryant would be great in Phoenix. But given the makeup of the team (assuming Nash and Stoudemire stay), Garnett would help more. Is the price for Garnett higher than the price for Bryant? It shouldn't be. So figure out what the offer is for Bryant, offer that package to the Wolves instead, and get Garnett. (Yeah, yeah, the salaries aren't quite the same. Deal.)

Start with Nash, Stoudemire, and Bryant, and you still have questions about big man defense and who plays where in the starting lineup. Start with Nash, Stoudemire, and Garnett, and you could fill out the team with the members of this board and still win 55 games.

agreed, but kg isn't making the stink that kobe is and hasn't pigeon-holed the suns as a desired destination. those two things make the kobe chances just slightly higher than the kg chance imo.

Lets see what the Lakers/Suns trade would look like....

Marion, Barbosa, #24 and #29 picks this year along with Atlantas 1st round pick next year for Kobe and Turiaf.

That gives the Suns a line-up like this:
Nash
Bell
Kobe
Diaw
Amare

Bench: KT, JR, Turiaf, Banks, Piatkowski, #59 pick. Pick-up Grant Hill.

Gives the Suns a very scary team to play against and a definite championship team.

Now, for the Lakers: Since they will be basically in rebuild mode, they could then do a trade with Boston (the rumored deal between the Suns and Celtics). Send Marion to Boston for #5 draft pick, West and Ratliff.

That gives the Lakers a line-up of this:
Barbosa
West
Evans
Odom
Bynum

Bench: Kwame, Radmonovic, Vujacic, Cook, Farmar, #5, #19, #24, #29, #40

They could even follow those 2 deals up with some other deals to get rid of Kwame and possibly Odom for total rebuild. Yes it gives them a young team, but they have Farmar, Barbosa, Bynum along with 5 draft picks this year and Atlanta's 1st round pick next year (to get OJ Mayo or one of the other young studs) to be a strong team in 3-4 years. Why wouldn't the Lakers want to deal with us. By that time, the Suns will be without Nash and start of decline. They know they can't get past us right now.

no team wants 5 1st round draft choices in a single season, even in a deep draft. it means you have an overwhelming kiddie corps. no coaching staff can give that many rooks enough attention to properly develop them. 3 picks AT MOST in a year is desired, and even that's likely too many.

As a commentator, what was Kerr's opinion of Kobe? Was he on the "he needs to get his teammates involved" side or the "kobe is a phenomenal player, they need him to be aggressive" side?

What has Phoenix radio been saying about this? Anything?

IF this was to happen, I wouldn't trade Barbosa, but I would trade Banks. I just don't know how I could cheer for Kobe in a Suns uniform though.

It really hard to fathom how you can put the names kobe and banks in the same sentence when talking about trade scenarios...

If the Suns got Kobe and then won a championship Id be devastated for the remainer of my life whenever the subject was brought up.. Knowing a rapist ex laker helped us get our 1st championship would taint the title for me and Im guessing alot of other Suns fans..

I'm with you, this would seriously screw me up I hate Kobe. I read every court document off his trial and testimony, I went in believing he was innocent, but reading that convinced me he is guilty. Now I'm reading Phil Jacksons book The Last Season, just got it a couple days ago and my mega hate for Kobe, has actually grown. Man Amare and Kobe would clash, and Kobe is the complete opposite of Nash. No way could I cheer for Kobe, I would feel like a giant Douchebag!!

Actually, Amare and Kobe are friends, so I don't think they would clash.

Well obviously Banks wouldn't be the prime player in the trade. It would most likely have to involve Marion and draft picks, but I wouldn't give Marion, draft picks and Barbosa. I would put Banks in place of Barbosa.

The Lakers would never go for that.

You cant dump a contract on a team giving you a kobe. Simple as that.

I would hate to give up marion and barbosa for kobe, but I would do it. And my barbosa jersey is only 4 months old!

I start scrolling down as soon as I read the dreaded words, "We'll I'd do..."

Counter moves from already impossible trade proposals are rarely worth reading let alone commenting on. Trades are always about both teams getting what they want, not about what would be great in a perfect world.

If the Lakers just game the Suns Kobe while keeping most of his salary (the ultimate in the perfect world scenerio), it would still be controversial. Kobe has lots of baggage. Obviously it would be too good to pass up, but that's the nature of his disturbing personality.

But let's get real. The Lakers are not going to trade him no matter what he says. He can't retire and lose zillions. He could pout, but it would make other teams even less willing to give up the assets necessary to make a deal go.

Garnett would be nicer to get, but for the same price Kobe might be better to get. Don't know, tough call..

Garnett is the safer option definately, Kobe has cancer potential.

I don't get Minnesota fans that keep saying Marion, Thomas and Atlantas pick isn't enough. What the hell do they want? They want Amare? For a 31 year old?

Minnesota fans are too emotionally attached to KG, I don't get why they still don't want to trade him to rebuild. They have NO hope of making the playoffs anytime soon and Seattle and Portland getting franchise players this offseason in their division. They just traded Mike James for Juwan Howard and are believed to have promised SPENCER HAWES.

KG can't be happy..
