It was nice to see Kolb take the blame for Wells' fumble, even if it seemed to be Wells' fault for taking his eyes off the ball. I think that's one of many parts of being a leader. Take the blame - even when you don't need to - instead of throwing someone else under a bus.

I didn't have a good view of the fumble and haven't seen a good replay of it. That said, if he pitched it on Beanie's back hip like he says he did, that's on him, no matter where Beanie's eyes are.

“We got in a hurry down there and (I) left it on his back hip,” Kolb said. “You can’t do that. I won’t do it again, but we will play fearless.”

Sounds like the stat sheet got it right, if that placement truly is the case.

Kolb had a great game yesterday, but I would love to see what he could do if he had a pocket to work in.

Kolbs just being a good dude and a good teamate.

That was all beanie... He should have caught it. Replay is clear as day .. beanie dropped two in his breadbasket on pitches in same game two years ago from warner. Yet warner was credited with the fumbles...

The NFL must have some weird rule that all pitches are credited to QB regardless... bottom line stop pitching to beanie!

Yes shane, stop pitching the ball because three times in your memory he's dropped them.

They pitched it to him fairly soon after the fumble, with no issues.

I'll reserve judgement until I see a good replay. Bottom line, everyone needs to be hyperfocused in the red zone...Beanie SHOULD catch it even if it's behind him, the QB should NEVER pitch it behind him, no false starts, no whiffing on blocks, and no missing 36 yard FGs.

If it was a poor pitch and Beanie still should have grabbed it, I'd be pissed at both of them as a coach. 6 yards from 6 points, there is no excuse for being sloppy.

They pitched it to him about 3 more times on my count after the fumble at they were all exchanged properly.

The pitch wasn't good. Beanie should have caught it but the pitch was not "good".

Was very good.

LOL.

I love you Shane, but sometimes your eyes see what your bias desires them too. :p

I'm going to guess that Beanie should have caught it, but that it was a poor pitch.

I also am very pleased with Kolb - and at the end of the game he turned to us in the endzone and gave a fist pump in victory which pretty much seals EZ love for him for a long, long time.

A very good pitch hits the RB in stride without him having to turn. He had to turn back for the pitch so it wasn't good. Like I said, Beanie should have caught it but Kolb should have given him a better pitch.

If this is truly the case, then what I say here is where I stand:

Of course, they also will continue to build a better rapport.

One thing for sure, Kolb is FAR better at handing off the rock than Warner was - love Kurt to death, but he was part of the running game problem with his awkward handoff style. Clean, crisp QB/RB exchanges can make all the difference with holes that close in a heartbeat.

the fumbled pitch (I don't care who was responsible) was to the left. IIRC the successful pitches after that were to the right side.

wonder if that had anything to do with it.?

Nice observation! And you are correct, as far as I remember as well.

That is your official stat sheet. No Beanie.

Of course the stat is going to credit it to Kolb because he was the last player to have possession of the ball, however, anyone with even the slightest bit of eyesight knows that Wells took his eyes off the ball because the pitch was on the money. Had Beanie took that pitch, he was going to walk into the endzone and I think that's what he saw and why he took his eye off the ball.

To me the key is we were one fumble and one crackback block away from 42 points, 35 of them on offense, after last year that was a good sign even if it was Carolina.

That is a great observation. Both drops from Warner in reg season and the drop last year on a pitch in pre season was to his left as well.

Both were responsible.

The pitch was outside Beanie's shoulder and it appeared like Beanie was thinking pay dirt before catching the ball. He could have adjusted had he waited half a second to get the ball.

Glad Kolb took the blame. That's what leaders do. Leinart would have blamed everyone else while complaining that he shouldnt have been put in that situation; and Anderson would allege that he took that pitch seriously!!

It's not a weird rule. The player credited with a fumble is the last player with control of the ball.

YES! That was awesome.

The only replays I watched last night were the final goalline stands, Peterson's return about umpteenmillion times, Smith's two scores and one of the sacks.

But I saw him soooo angry at Joey, for sure. And I smiled. Dude wants to win, he actually does take this **** seriously.

I love the emotion he shows and the fist pumps.. Guy is driven and just gets it IMO. 130 QB rating helps too :)
