It's hard to say where the Cardinals will be if and when Kolb returns to action. They have the second-hardest schedule in the NFL over the back half of the season. They failed to sign Chris Williams, who chose the Rams after his release from the Bears. They don't seem inclined to pursue Vince Young, a former Pro Bowl quarterback on the street.

But here's the bigger question: Kolb is under contract through 2016. He's owed a $2 million roster bonus in March and would earn $39 million in additional salary over the next four years.

He has started 14 games in two years. He's already been paid $21 million. There is a chance the team will deem him injury prone and not worth the hefty financial commitment.

He is injury prone and even when healthy is average or slightly above average at best QB. Too much price for an injury prone mediocre QB.

Plus he's a reverse conjugated verb: best, better, good, mediocre, bad. Did it in Philly, did it last season and was doing it again this year.

I suspect they will ask him to restructure his contract. If he refuses then he's history here. I think he will agree to it since I don't think there would be much interest in him elsewhere and here he is still collecting a paycheck.

Besides he's already pretty much set since he's already collected $22 million.

Agree. They can cut his base in half and throw in some incentives based on health and play and get it done. Something likely to get done well before the draft, freeing the team to take BPA at position of need. If it's a QB, so be it.

P.S. Add to his total the $$$ made in Philly. He's set and then some.

This is why he SHOULD be gone IMO. Sometimes a mistake has to be admitted and moved on from.

BUT, I suspect there will be an "open" competition in camp next year with Kolb, Skelton, Lindley and maybe even Bartel. Lather, rinse, repeat...

If Skelton keeps improving and has consecutive 300 yard games the offense should start to come together. I think the defense will get their mojo back and it could be an interesting second half of the season.

Skelton is not accurate. Skelton gets caught latching on to his man and worst of all...I think he can read a defense well enough but is too impatient. Maybe it is the state of the OL, but his accuracy seems to doom him when he does wait with given time and misses his receiver. It is frustrating because he is able to throw a great pass but then he has a series of passes which would make Derek Anderson proud.

That's Skelton. Wildly inconsistent. 7-9 then 1-9. NFL by law #297.32 requires him to throw at least one interception every game.

Meanwhile Kolb starts out hot, gets worse every game, and then gets hurt.

We're screwed.

Kolb is due a 3M bonus in March. Do we pick up that option for insurance in case we can't get a QB in the 1st round or cut him to save the $ and roll the dice? Or just eat the 3M if we draft him anyway.

tough question. I'm of the belief that he is CLEARLY the best QB on the team. BUT, that's not really saying much. It's something I probably couldn't answer until the end of the season, HOPING the rookie OLinemen develop into good starters. If so, I'd cut him if he won't restructure

Agree, besides the $3 million bonus I believe his base salary next years is $9 million. No way should Cards pay $12 million for him.

Finally someone that makes sense.

We have rolled the dice twice on Kolb and lost. Enough is enough.

I'm not especially tolerant of "unlucky" players, but do feel that if our receivers didn't drop at least 6 catchable balls (& kept that number down to just a couple) Skelton might have had a pretty good game and we might have beaten GB.
