While we might not know what it was precisely that kept star Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis sidelined with illness for well over a week, we have a better idea of what was going on with the Latvian center in terms of health. Porzingis recently opened up about the malady he had been suffering after the Celtics' win over the Brooklyn Nets this past Saturday (March 14) evening.
"It was some sort of upper respiratory thing that turned into something heavier," explained KP via Boston Dot Com's Conor Roche. "I think Bronchitis is the word. Something like that, along those lines. But I hadn’t been that sick for probably ever in my life."
"I was really ... just laying at home, trying to recover," he added. "After that, I still had lingering fatigue. I still have it a bit."
As long as he was out and as much as he may be fatigued, Porzingis looked about as good as he has all season in Boston's win against Brooklyn, leading the team in scoring with 24 points while attacking passing lanes and dunking the ball.
If he still has another gear to go in terms of recovery, it bodes well for the team's designs to get back to the NBA finals and win their second straight banner. "I’m doing everything on my biohacking stuff that I know ... trying to get back in my best shape possible," said Porzingis.
