It's really a statement that we consider 75 yards total from our top-2 backs a good day running the ball.

The run game looked better than it has all year. Shipp looked good early, but Arrington looked like the player we all wanted him to in the second half. But, let's be honest, we still gained less than 100 yards on the ground all said. We need to get better--much better--on the ground if we are to compete for a playoff spot in the future.

Arrington also needs to start seeing at least 80% of the carries. He's better than Shipp now.

Those short passes over the middle and into the flat were our run game. That was St Louis run game in their super bowl years.

Warner exhibited what should be expected from a true starting QB. If anyone still thinks that McCown is a better option at this point, they don't know diddly about the position.

If it's a choice on re-signing only one of the two, then I want Warner.

That was one of the better overall starting performances for one of starting QB in some years. Not in total yards but in game managment, play calling, and all around performance.

:biglaugh:

No, it wasn't. It was a big part of their offense, but Faulk was a monster with rushing yards.

Hold on there Tex.

Yeah I agree Warner played a great game.

Of course every fiber of his being wanted to win that game, that and the O line not being a sieve helped too.

Let's let him win a few more before annointing him the savior here. It was in a dome, his old home dome, against a team with a ton of issues itself.

Let's see him repeat that on real grass a couple of times before we get giddy here.

Agree with that and with pharia too about our need of a much better run game.

Let us not forget, our offense was matched up against the keen defensive mind of Larry Marmie.

Still, a road win is a road win. And, when Kurt audibled on the STL five yard line and then threw to a wide open Eric Edwards, I concluded right then that we would be alright if we had to start Warner in 06'.

I will say that I want him back next year. As a mentor to our new young stud. He knows what needs to be done and if he is taking the snaps while our franchise QB learns, then I am fine with it. I would also rather have Warner rather than our true savior taking the hits while our O-Line learns.

Wonderful game from Kurt. I was for signing him for an extension before this game as we need veteran leadership at the qb position. This must be really sweet for Kurt winning at St. Louis.

It was great to see the guys smiling on the sidelines for a change. Me Too! Great game from a real pro Kurt Warner. The key is to win next week and play JJ more!

Arrington is better than Shipp and will continue getting better. He needs to carry the ball. At least our runs werer effective enough for the defense to take notice. The quick passes to JJ out of the backfield almost count as runs as well.

It's always nice to beat the Rams, and on the road is even sweeter.

This was

a great Cardinal win. The D played a terrific game against the run, our WR's would not be denied, our TE's were finally a part of the game, and our running game had some spunk.
As for the MCCown bashing thing or one QB vs. the other, let it go!
How does anyone know how any QB, including Navarre ,would have done with the sheming and execution today?
He's not the only QB that can check off his reads! He is however the most experienced at it.
Be happy the TEAM got a win.

Man, he must be on Cloud 9 right now. 3 TD's and no picks in a winning cause his first game back in St. Louis. Ya gotta feel good for one of the NFL's "good guys" today.

Good job, Kurt!

I hear ya...I was having nightmares last night about the 1st time Emmitt went back to Dallas! I was praying Kurt's day wouldn't end up like his and thankfully it didn't!

It's not about annointing him as savior. His decision making, poise and skill give him a distinct advantage over McCown. McCown is more mobile and that's the extent of his advantage over Warner. Given good protection, Warner is an elite QB. Can't say the same about McCown. He had very good protection against the Panthers and had a meltdown in the second half.

When this team lost in previous games, it wasn't due to Warners poor play. The only boneheaded mistake by him that I can recall was not spiking the ball to give them more time. That was followed by Davis making a false start and the clock being run down. That was in the first meeting against the Rams as I recall. McCown has made too many to list.
By the way, I'm not Tex.

If we can play like this for the rest of the year, we still have at least 3 winnable games left on the schedule IMO:

Hou
SF
Phi

Toss up:
WAS

Not likely:
IND
JAX

I'm not sold yet. This was a Larry Marmie coached defense Warner teared up and an injured one at that. If Kurt shows some consistency putting up ppints in the red zone then maybe we can start talking about an extension. Regardless of what happens with Warner, the QB position will be addressed this offseason because McCown is history and Navarre is going nowhere so the topic shouldn't go away so easily.

In 2005 Arizona Cardinals terms, today's performance was a moral 100 yard rushing game.

That's the way you gotta look at it dp. Just to see a Cardinals back in space today was an amazing thing. I actually thought they had more yards than they did!

This was the kind of performance I was hoping to see from Warner. It really seems like he is finally getting on the same page as his WRs. He is starting to know where his WRs will be and is developing some timing. Warner sees the field well and spreads the ball around. He played a perfect game yesterday.

Personally I think we need to sign Warner to a three year extension. He will be the perfect mentor for any young QB we bring in here and I believe he still has 2-3 good years left in him.

As bad as Philly is, I don't think we beat then especially if McNabb is back, same with Wash...Gibbs out coaches DG.
That being said, if we play like we did yesterday, there is a chance...but towards the end we let 'em back in the game and that was scary..
