Different situation. Wilson was asked to make 2-3 plays a game on a team with a playoff-caliber defense and elite running game and offensive line. How does Kyler's first four games compare to Russel Wilson's (similar size) first four games?
To be fair he should have lost that Packers game, lol.Different situation. Wilson was asked to make 2-3 plays a game on a team with a playoff-caliber defense and elite running game and offensive line.
Murray has better counting stats, but Wilson had won some games by now.
What is funny is that most people view the average depth of target as a very negative stat. It can be, but in our context it really isn't. The last two teams we have played have kept their S's back and dared us to consistently execute down the field. Teams are saying that the Cardinals are incapable of playing mistake free football and for the past two games, they are correct. If Kyler can stay accurate, ahead of the chains, and keep the offense out of negative plays, you will see defenses force the issue more. Are teams going to force us to dink and dunk the rest of the way or way force teams to adjust.

The two worst starting QBs in the NFL are...
Kyler Murray and Josh Rosen.
Rosen is significantly worse than Murray by DVOA. Murray needs to get better on third down. Right now he's third-to-last in ALEX, which is how short of the sticks you're throwing on third down. For whatever reason, Rosen leads the league in this metric.
This is exactly what was said on the Card's Underground podcast by Urban, Odegard, & Calvisi. This is why Kingsbury seems frustrated. He sees that defenses are giving easy completions and soft coverage but the offense is just not executing. It isn't so dissimilar to what the Patriots do. They throw underneath until teams try to force the issue and then they throw the ball over the top.

Kyler will need to learn that he can't always play the NFL game on his terms. Sometimes the opposing team and the matchups they present will dictate what he needs to do to win. Even if it is something he doesn't like to do. He mentioned in his post game interview last week how the defense being played the last two weeks has made him play boring (or something to that nature).xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
It's interesting that we're not running 1-2 designed shot plays a quarter to loosen up the defense. I don't know if Kingsbury isn't calling them, Murray is checking out of them, or Murray is taking the checkdown to get a completion.
Yep. Even if you only complete 25% of those passes, at least you’re keeping defenses honest. This is why we have a guy like Andy Isabella on this team

It doesn't (just) have to be speed. You can run a three-receiver combination that should free up one guy in single coverage. That's what the air raid is all about — creating 1:1 matchups down the field.
