Except they are watching plenty of film of these guys when they are preparing for them and GMs are very likely to have a solid pulse on other players around the league as there is always a chance of trading for those players or having them available in free agency.

The players are only watching film of (a) players on teas they will face, (b) only up to the game they face them, and (c) only the players that are relevant to their assignments. That’s pretty minimal when voting across the league.

The past month hasnt been great (although Philly game had some highs), but lets not forget Vegas had him as a top 5 MVP candidate and the lead in the division a month ago. Votes put in early its not a shock he's a pro bowl player.
