I mean we saw what the Rams/49ers/Seahawks was like for him. Not sure being in a physical division + weather issues would be ideal for him.

I think the Steelers would rather spend less on Fields or Russ again.

I still think the Colts is the spot if we trade him. Gannon/Steichen colleagues in Philly, etc.
Why would Hannon do this to his buddy?

Oh no. There are some major problems with the Steelers. Their D is much more expensive and talented than ours, yet totally dysfunctional. They have a worse WR room than ours. Things are not all frosty in the 'Burgh.
I don't think they are frosty, lol. They have the ownership and coach to get 10 wins with Fields/Wilson.

It would also be the Cardinal way to have our recasts flourish under a different regime...

No, it doesn't.

By the way, some days ago the Raiders-journalist on The Athletic speculated that Murray could be the Raiders' best option. (https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/60...s-quarterback-future-trade-free-agency-draft/)
Okay, sure you can technically do it. It would dramatically compromise the Cards’ cap. As to the overwhelming package idea, how do you pay that package, the Cards’ keeper free agents and the draft picks. If the Raiders send top veteran players (for Murray?) you’re crushed against the cap and have to release good people. Why would they send good young players (read recent draft picks). They’d be sacrificing they’re future to bet on Murray. If he’s that good why trade him? I see some weird interpretations of Overthecap numbers on this thread. Go read it for yourself. In 2026 (post 6/1) it’s feasible. In 2025 it hamstrings the team. If some team was crazy enough to offer post 2025 draft picks I suppose it might work, but who really thinks that highly of Murray. It would also end any playoff attempt in 2025. This is all fantasy stuff.

Why would the Raiders sell good players? They can just pay with draft picks. Also, they have more than 100 million in cap space next year (5th most in the NFL), so considering the cap is only an accounting tool that can be manipulated in a ton of ways, that should certainly not be a problem. Further, he cost 33 million next year. That is about average for a starting quarterback. Plus, they are not on the hook for a single dollar in 2026, so it is basically a year-long audition for relatively cheap. Or are they going to sell their fanbase on another year with Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew?

And honestly, arguing that it would compromise the Cards’ cap to the extent you insinuate is simply wrong. Just wrong.

Your post is way, way over the top.

Interesting that this board thinks the playoff Steelers with one of the best coaches in the NFL would want Murray but not the Cardinals.
Tomlin's teams make the playoffs, but they have been defeated three times in the last four years in the Wild Card Round (the other year they were 9-8 and missed the postseason). Steelers are in again this season but must play at the Ravens for their first game.

Might be a perfect fit for Kyler. He has proven he can back into the playoffs and lose a first-round game.

Why you decided that the only way the Raiders could make a trade was to trade us good players is beyond me. Feels like you’re just trying to justify your original premise that doesn’t jive with reality.

Note: trading Kyler this year and probably next year is a fantasy that will not happen due to cap constraints

It seems like a way to get worse unless the team who trades for him can take his salary without a big hit to the Cards. The natural progression is to have a good draft and FA and build around Murray then get to the playoffs. I know a lot of people want change, but be careful how much change is made. The Steelers would pretty tough to beat with Kyler. He plays better behind a good D that can get off the field.

If he's traded before his roster bonus, it's doable. The problem is, some who keep calling Kyler a mid worthless bum and want to run him out of town want a top 5 pick for him. When we get a 2nd and 5th, those same will call Monti a bum for not getting enough and we'll be stuck watching the likes of Kirk Cousins or Cooper Rush starting and taking us to 7 wins.

lol. This team was basically two bad calls away from making the playoffs this year.

You act like we’re a one and 16 team
Insipid hyperbolic garbage response.

I’m acting like a fan who’s watched Kyler Murray turn into a pumpkin and crash and burn every second half of a season, missing the playoffs 5 of 6 seasons with the lone time he got in there, he backed in and then got humiliated in one of the worst playoff performances of all time.

Expecting different for the next two years… just… because… is acting like someone who hasn’t watched the last six seasons of the Cardinals.

More hyperbolic garbage. No one is calling him a worthless bum.

Why the hell do you guys do this, projecting the kind of hyperbolic crap you did above which only serves to kill debate and start flame wars by trying to position the other side of the argument as idiots?

It’s so ******* tired.

QBs in this draft are trash.

Your choices are stop gaps, like Double A Ron or Curt Cousins....throwing big money at someone like Darnold....or trying to trade for a QB like JJ McCarthy, if Minny keeps the Darnold.
I think the shine will be off Darnold when the Rams knock them out of the playoffs this weekend. At least from Minnesota's POV.

I think the only way forward if you keep Kyler is to just build up the offense to the point where it's an easy handoff and an easy pass all of the time....which means the team has to explore other alternatives. Kyler pisses me off because every time I write him off, he has a game like he did against the Niners.

I'm not one to pay attention to cap hits because the cap is kind of a farce and can be easily manipulated but what would the cap deal be if the Cards traded Murray for Trevor Lawrence? They make similar $$$ per year.
