I'm listening to the TV in the next room, but Fox Sports is about to run an interview with a "friend of Phil Jackson's" (?) talking about what a little turd Bryant is.

I wouldn't put him on next year's Laker roster quite yet.

Well I will take my chance with Kobe, TMac and Amare even if it turns into a disaster we would be in great shape.

Except that the rest of the roster would be complete scrubs.

Is the 'friend of Phil Jackson' named Charlie Rosen, by any chance? If so, it should be an entertaining interview...

The Lakers have already shown what they think of Phil Jackson's opinions, though, so I doubt something like this would influence Kobe's opinion one way or the other.

It might have been a smoke screen from Kupchak anyway. They want to keep both Kobe and Shaq but Kobe is the much harder task. So, they tell him it'll be his team first and then tell him that they couldn't find a taker for Shaq. Or something along this line...

It certainly sounds reasonable.

At this point the only team with enough big contracts with good players and an owner willing to pay for them is the Mavs. Kup might ask Kobe if would rather play with Shaq, who wants the ball all the time or maybe Dirk and Walker who want the ball all the time.

Something about the "devil you know".
