Just out of curiosity, I went to a few Lakers boards to see what they were talking about after the series was tied last night. Seems like they want to tie in the losses to good ol' Tim Donaghy's latest rant.

Here are a few things they are saying:

Im not a conspiracy theorist at all - but was listening to tim donaghy on i believe was the dan patrick show on AM radio yesterday morning. He advised everyone to notice the 50-50 calls to go suns way and that there will be no-calls for the Lakers while bogus fouls called for the Suns. He guaranteed the suns victory.

Tim Daughnehy was on DP this morning. I suggest you podcast it. cnnsi.com

anyway he said this would happen. He noted suns getting calls in game3 and that they would tonight. Dan doubted it. Oh well.
No team in the league is 20FT's better than another

lets hope we can win game 5

Suns overcame donaghy in game 3 and salvatore in game 4 to win in 2006. Laker fans can eat poop.

I have a friend who is a Laker fan who was bragging that the Suns had no chance because Suns-Celtics isn't going to make any money for the league.

Larry brown and AI arguing with refs.. Thats what it was. Allen got T'd up.

Sounds crazy but its true.. The home team must be happy and cheering.. Nobody wants to feel like poopoo after they spent a pretty penny on tickets.. Wouldn't you feel upset if you spent all that money to go to a game just to be mad that your team lost? Yeah you will. David stern does not want that.

$$$ wise it is best to keep Suns in the series since there are quite a few "sweeps" this post season already and the owners (investors) make less money with less games played. I didn't watch Magic VS Celtics game 4 but did Magic get better treatment to avoid "sweep"?

I remember Lakers were getting good treatments in game 1 and 2. I think this is what home court is all about and that's why every coach wants home court advantage. This is not a secret at all. People say "regular games" don't count. Yes, they do when you need home court advantage!

I don't expect us getting 2x more FTs so we better make our 3pts. Sometimes I think the refs were telling you certain teams that "if you are aggressive, you get calls". The old Suns' team weren't aggressive enough but this new Suns' team can be aggressive and that's why they are rewarded. Being aggressive drives the crowd wild too.

Don't be surprised to see that in Game 5 the suns will start knocking down 3's. Then once they get it going the refs will make a ticky tack call as soon as a suns player has a great look at a 3 and the basket will not count. I can almost promise myself this will happen to sneak out some 3's away from the suns.

*Sigh.. Oh well.

It's just that those Lakers bandwa... errr fans are used to always get the favored calls by the refs.

But hear me, Mr. Stern. If there ever was an NBA team to represent basketball as the sport should be played - with passion, grace, skill and team work, the Suns are the perfect representation.
What a perfect team to win the championship and thereby promote this beautiful game!

*now make some calls to those refs*

There is another theory why ome tem gets the lose balls, it is called "quickness". The Suns have some very athletic backups (Leandro and the Dragon are extremely fast) and their other backups are "energy guys". They didn't decide to turn it on after dropping 7 of their last 11 regular season games like the Lakers - they have been playing like this for a long time.

Lakers fans congratulate the team for beating a crippled Jazz team and dismiss the Suns wins over the Spurs as a fluke. It is more confortable to assume the fix was in.

Is that why the Magic won games 1 and 2 of the ECFs at home?

Oh, right....

I'm investigating but I think Donaghy will be right. I bet you he says the Lakers will win game 5 and refs will favor them, I think, BIG TIME.

Maybe because the Lakers are favored to win?

Donaghy says a lot of things. He said the Cavs would beat the Celtics with the help of the league. The guy is taking full advantage of his 15 minutes of fame, because words from his mouth are what conspiracy theorists love to hear. Anything that man says should be considered "talking out of one's ass" until proven otherwise.

What surprises me most is that so many Lakers fans are quick to jump on the conspiracy bandwagon the minute their team hits a bump in the road. What, 7 championships under Stern haven't convinced you otherwise?

Say what you will about Spurs fans, but even when the Spurs lose, I don't think I've ever heard a peep out of them with regard to Stern and the conspiracy angle. Gotta respect them for that.

This is true only when they lose to us, but not when they lost to Lakers because Suns is not Stern's "favorite" child.

I don't believe the NBA cares one way or another how many games a series goes because their contract only avails the rights to broadcast the playoffs. The people who would care are the networks, but Stern has no incentive to meddle for them. He gets paid the same either way.

It'd be a conflict of interest if Stern (or a member of his family or circle of friends or business partners) owned Turner Broadcasting or Disney stock...right?

Hmmm. What are the odds?
