"If I'm reading the internet right, there will be a lot of guys there available that can help us," general manager Lance Blanks said. "I think, by the pool of players (available), we will get a very good player at that pick, ideally on the perimeter or the interior. I think there will be both there."

I know he is probably joking and doing the real stuff behind the scenes but the guy should just not be allowed to interview.

we hope someone will be available "ideally on the perimeter or interior". uh... what other kinds of players are there?

You are right about the internet comment. Fans expect more from a GM than what we do everyday. :)

How depressing is it that there is the shroud of doubt over whether or not he's joking. I think he's joking, but I couldn't say with certainty.

Is there a link to that quote, I'd be interested in context.

He was joking. And, as for the part about looking for someone who can help on the perimeter or interior, of course that's everyone. That's the point.

Blanks was in a spot where he couldn't really say much so he had to try to spin his way through/joke his way out of certain questions.

if that's the case, he needs better comedy writers.

this didn't sound like a joke at all. I mean... what's even supposed to be funny in what he said?

That's because he's making fun of you and me and all the other internet experts out there who predict the draft based on info they read on sites like this.

Based on his track record and interviews he is in no position to joke about anyone.

Seriously, should a FO who is basically viewed as a joke in the NBA be making jokes at all?

To me that is like a clown doing some tired act hoping people will find it funny even though people have already seen your act. Everyone already knows.....your a clown.

<insert clown horn sound effect here>

I'm not sure Babby is a "joke", but Lance Blanks to me has shown NOTHING to prove he is a competent GM. He was an assistant for a bad Cavs front office and doesn't seem to do anything for us.
