Last year it was Sean Taylor and Kellen Winslow

who had all you guys slobbering and predicting for hall-of-fame careers. A few years before that it was David Terrell.

So which player will you self-styled gurus be wrong about this year? As someone with an abysmal draft record but an eye for busts, I am already marshalling my ridicule.

Name your early bust guesses now. I'm still undecided but leaning toward Antrel Rolle and two others I'll name later.

Taylor was a bust? 76 tackles 2 forced fumbles 4 picks, 1 sack, missed a game over the DUI thing(which he was acquitted of) and didn't start 2 others. He had 24 less tackles than Adrian Wilson, same number of forced fumbles, 1 more pick, 2 less passes defended. All this in his rookie season while becoming a team leader on the best defense in the NFL that played most of the year without LaVar Arrington.

Admittedly early in the year he made rookie mistakes, the coaches were quite open about him being over aggressive, too many personal fouls, taking bad angles on run plays because he was going too fast, but here's what Gibbs said about him in an article that was largely criticizing Taylor for being out of control.

"You dream about things when you pick him," Gibbs said. "That's kind of what we were hoping for, that guy that controls the field, very physical. He's every bit of that. He's an unusual player."

Arrington says Taylor will be a once in a generation safety. And he's only 21.

Terrell admittedly has been a bust.

Winslow, hard to call a guy a bust who breaks his leg, and can't play the whole season, if that's a bust what does that say about Rivers who was healthy all year and couldn't get on the field? Note, I don't think Rivers is a bust but if you think Taylor and Winslow are, then Rivers is a colossal bust.

Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith will not turn out to be worthy of high 1st round pick status......

I think Skorp is asking for guys being heavily touted on the board who will fail. I'm the only one touting Rodgers, and nobody seems to know enough about Smith to be touting him.

Right now it would seem Rolle, Johnson and Brown are the only guys getting enough hype to fit Skorps scenario, although LV is mounting a one man campaign to get Pac Man in there . :D

Everyone has made mistakes here, hell Skorp said Taylor was going to be a bust and the year before said he was terrified we were going to pick Andre Johnson. I wanted Terrell, didn't want Suggs. Lots of people said Ben would be a reach, I said Dockett was too risky, and Dansby too small.

To me that's what makes it interesting, all the differing opinions.

But I still have Nathan Vasher to fall back on, even after all the neck injury reports I continued to say he's going to be a good NFL player and there he was starting at CB as a rookie and holding his own.

I think Cadillac Williams will be the bust this year.I just don't see "it" in him. I'm not sold on Ronnie Brown either.Although i'm starting to change my mind on him.I agree that calling Sean Taylor a bust is a definite reach. The same can be said about Winslow. He's going to be very good. Now,about that Phillip Rivers tout................?

Are we supposed to be picking our busts, or the guys we think will go to the HOF, but you have faith that because we picked them they'll bust?

~Bust pick #1: Cedric Benson (I think one of the top three backs won't work out, I'm really just picking one out of a hat)

~Bust Pick #2: Dan Cody ("Dan Cody" is simply not an NFL name)

~"HOF" Pick: Cadillac Willaims (combining the flip-side of both reasons stated above, I believe that one of the three top backs will be an instant success and the name "Cadillac Williams" was made for sports page headlines)

Understatement of the day. Dunno where the Sean Taylor is a bust talk even manifests, I'd say he was one of the absolute best picks in the draft last season. But I do understand alot of Card fans don't watch other teams games everyweek via Sunday ticket so.... I think I can understand mis reads.

Bust of the year, Winslow but that was due to injury, another poor example, it's way to early to say who was a bust from last season. Rivers included, he didn't even play.

Ronnie Brown springs to mind about possible busts this season, but if he's good, he'll be dynamite good, so he's worth the risk for a 1st round pick IMHO. Another is Rolle, but he's in the same category if he sticks, he could be dynamite, or move him to Safety where I think he'd be awesome, and probably his more natural position, even though alot of folks won't agree with that statement. :D

Skkorp, Sean Taylor probably had a good arguement for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Are you serious? I like how you come in here, lob a bomb, and then disappear again when you're called out on it. How is that Phillip Rivers touting working out for you?

I think that Antrelle Rolle will be a tremendous bust. Anyone that picks him in the Top 15 is going to be sorry pretty quickly. Good college player, but he's a safety in the NFL, not a cornerback.

Man that was like looking in a mirror :D

Agree with you on every point including Rolle being a natural FS.

Rolle, Johnson or Pac Man. In that order!! Really Want Johnson or rolle!!

For Bust Williams scares me due to his size, Cards undersized HB's Jones and Mcelroy have scare me from little backs.

That I am!

Actually, I am patently against drafting a CB at #8 for a myriad of different reasons: Rules changes, defensive line pressure makes the CB's better, etc etc.

However, if the Cards are going to draft a CB at #8 I want it to be Pacman. He has -probably- the biggest upside in this draft, his speed is unmatched, and despite his 5'10 190lb frame he loves contact and loves to tackle! He wouldnt certainly help against the run!

Coincidental that Skorp just named 3 Miami payers to his all bust team.

And he named them for good reason!!!

Thats cause Miami SUCKS!!!!!

Shall I give you a history lesson :D

Couldn't agree more about who we draft.

Williams will make it in the right system and team. Remember Hearst after he left here!

You could have thrown Wilfork, Vilma and DJ Williams under the bus also using that bias.

If you want a " Bust " using that criteria, why not nominate Eli Manning? Cost the Giants a bundle of money, traded for 2 #1 draft picks and played like crap.

Skorp, you really need to let us know what you meant by the title and then the preceding message. I'm dying to know.

You know, I don't sense that there is much excitement about any of these players this year compared to the ones you named Skkorp.

Thank God we are not drafting in the top 3, or God forbid, #1 this year. You know, our luck might be changing. If any year was going to be the year we got a #1 pick, you'd think it would be a year like this one. There will be a lot of good players in this draft, but not many "big money franchise saver" type
of players. If any.
