Here I the guys I'd be interested in (others I don't like or haven't heard of):

WR Peter Warrick
TE Patrick Hape
DT Luther Elliss --Something left in the tank to be a rotaional guy with Davis and Pace (on passing downs)?
G Matt O'Dwyer
WR Roscoe Crosby -- A project, to be sure, but loaded with tons more potential than anyone we have behind BJ
OL Mike Compton
WR Troy Edwards
WR Danny Farmer
RB Kay-Jay Harris --another project, but this guy is big and fast; he just needs a fire lit under his ass. I loved him coming out of college this year.
QB Rohan Davey
G Ryan Krug
KR Chad Morton
DT Ahmad Childress --In the mold of a big run-stuffing DT. Another guy who needs a fire lit.
T Ethan Brooks

T Carlos Joseph

A lot of good names on this list......Rohan Davey really intrigues me as does Kay-Jay Harris. Ahmad Childress, Matt O'Dwyer, Mike Compton, Luther Ellis would be worth at least thinking about.

Don't think a pressing need exists at WR.

Green has indicated that he expects another guy to show up on the wire that the Cards will put in a waiver claim for by 1pm today (I presume 4pm ET).

Warrick is technically an unrestricted FA so it wouldn't be him. (I'm assuming Peerless Price also has tenure and fits into the same category as Warrick).

Luther Ellis would be my front runner. Anyone - Is he more of a UT or a NT? (We need depth at NT).

O Dwyer, Hape and Childress figure to be under consideration as well.

I don't think we'd re-sign Ethan Brooks (who's a former Cardinal). Edwards re-signed with his current team.

There are some interesting players on the list. IMO there will be even more interesting players on the final cut that's coming up. IMO 2-3 players between now and September 12th..Could be more.

TE, O-line, WR, special teams, D-line.

I'd love to see Kay-Jay Harris in Cardinal red, as well. Surprising that Miami didn't even want to take a longer look at him. They're reportedly trying to trade one of their backups to someone. Maybe it was a numbers game thing.

Wally, do you know any scuttlebutt about him from the FL press?

Can someone please help me understand why it appears we should be looking at a WR.......how many can you put on the field at any one time. I appreciate that injuries happen but........

Warrick and Price.....two former 1st rounders that are available....give it up, we are not going to go after either. Warrick will not consider a situation where he is a #4 or a #5 WR. Price.....he can't catch.

Is there any other WR out there who is CLEARLY better than Charles Lee as a #4 or Newhouse as a #5?

We have WAY bigger needs to address than at WR.

Because Charles Lee and Reggie Newhouse both suck, there's no reason that we can't try and trade up and get something different, and possibly better. Neither really adds any dimension that we don't have above them, and neither is going to return kicks or punts.

I think that a guy like Darnerian McCants, who could never win over the Washington brass, would be a great addition as a #4.

Everyone.

Only players with 4 or less years experience are put in the waiver system. Everyone else goes straight to FA.

What about Chad Morton? Is he hurt? He was a great KR and PR for the Jets a few years back.

Do not seem to be a lot of Centers in this group?

RB Cedric Cobbs

would be an interesting pick up

Love the guy as you know he was an Arkansas hero but he has been injured for the past two years. If he can get healthy he could be a real good player but so far he cannot stay healthy. I think he may have run one play in preseason but maybe not even that.

Do we not need a center or has everyone got their health back. Read we had one of the guys who was going to snap left handed. That is sort of scary.

We can't carry three centers on the roster; it makes no sense. Leckey may be able to start in Week 1; Step's been cleared for contact. We'll make it through the first couple weeks of the season all right.

It's not so much that we're targeting a receiver than it is a kick returner, and by coincidence, this is where most if not all the waiver and FA return guys play. No doubt, if there was a RB or DB available who was a quality return guy, the Cards would show interest.

The confusing (and somewhat scary) thing about our need to bring in a return specialist is that it figures to create a so-called domino effect that could either land or cost guys like Sheldon, Anderson, Newhouse or Jackson a roster spot.

i.e if, for example, the Cards determined Anderson was definitely our kickoff returner, perhaps he could rest easier going into the final week. Now he has to sweat it out.

Lee has looked good from what I have seen in Pre Season, I like him as the Cards #4

He's looked all right, I guess. He hasn't exactly been a standout, and there's been nothing there to say that he can be a contributor in the future. But those lower sections of the roster is where teams get better every season. I think that the Cards can do better. If you would rather have the same nobodies on the roster, and not try to improve the team any way you can, more power to you, I guess. MarTay Jenkins and others looked good in the preseason, as well.

I'll defer to Denny & Co. on this, but there's nothing to talk about right now, and there's roster space. McCants was a guy that once looked like a promising player for the future...

Martay Jenkins didn't even look good in college.

A prime example of the type of guy you're are talking about was Dennis Johnson the Dlineman we had. First couple of games he looked like he was going to be a real find. Turned out he was completely lost.

Be nice to find a guy like Johnny Bailey, the former Cards RB/punt returner that went to the Pro Bowl in '92 as the special teams player. Good third down back as well. Was always exciting to watch.

Green said yesterday that Leckey is at least two weeks, maybe more, from coming back. His high ankle sprain was a bad one.

The Cowboys appear to have found just such a player in Tyson Thompson. Amazing, he played in my backyard and I didn't think much of him because SJS was so bad. A lot bigger than Bailey but he's got the quicks and he can catch the ball, he's the kid that lit us up at the end of our first preseason game and apparently he's really wowed Parcells.
