Brandon Williams? I'm guessing he is literally #53
JJ has shown he can catch it deep. there is some value there. Not like the WR room is overflowing with talent

I can somewhat understand JJ sticking even though he’s bad now.

I don't...he's a deep threat, playing in an offense and with a QB that probably won't throw a pass more than 15 yards down field...and that will be on a busted play.

Deatrick Nichols
AJ Howard/Zeke Turner (Zeke was impressive in the 4th preseason game in a hybrid S/LB role)

Heavy on oline. I thought Cunningham would be safe on the practice squad. From what I saw Thursday, he looks like a guy that needs to spend a year in the training room cutting BF% before he's ready to step on the field in a real game. Then again the starting RT has kind of the same issue.

I was surprised by the cuts of Brice Butler & Elijah Penny. Butler couldn't make the club from the tub, but at least he had experience in an NFL game. He had a nice catch in the 4th Pre-Season game & set the pick/block that freed Little up for the TD catch. Penny fits that 4th RB / backup FB role perfectly & can be a strong runner when called upon... maybe they think they can get him to the practice squad.

I'd like a better 4th CB than Brandon Williams or Deatrick Nichols so that might be a position that they bring someone in from other teams cuts.

I agree with you that I thought Cunningham was practice squad bound. He's not a guy that will be active on gamedays anyways since we only activate 8 with a swing tackle, a swing guard & backup C.

Come on. There is not a team in the league regardless of what offense they run that does not throw an occasional deep ball.

Here's hoping that every opposing D coordinator agrees with you and plans as such.

WR Kendall Wright got cut by the Vikings. He's put up decent stats over his career.

2017 - 16 games played (4 starts), 59 catches, 614 yards, 1 TD
2016 - 11 games played (4 starts), 29 catches, 416 yards, 3 TDs
2015 - 10 games played (9 starts), 36 catches, 408 yards, 3 TDs
2014 - 14 games played (11 starts), 57 catches, 715 yards, 6 TDs
2013 - 16 games played (12 starts), 94 catches, 1079 yards, 2 TDs
2012 - 15 games played (5 starts), 64 catches, 626 yards, 4 TDs

Decent for a 4th WR.

Not surprising, Capi, Butler, Little.
I thought Penny would have made it.
JJ Nelson and Brandon Williams might have not.
Cunningham would have been PS bound unless they felt other teams had him on their radar.

Still trying to wrap my mind around how / why Penny doesn’t have more value than Holden, Cunningham, & BWilliams. SMDH

Stinks about Penny. Thought for sure he did enough to make it. Glad Dennis Gardeck made the team.

Benwikere is your effective 4th CB because Baker moves into the slot in 5 DB sets.

My guess is it's easier to find RB's than it is to get lineman.

That said, some of the bottom end guys will likely get cut for other guys. The bottom five may not make it to Monday.

Just because you made the initial 53 doesn’t mean you will be on the team come week one. The bottom 5 guys on the current roster will be sweating bullets till the start of week one.

I'd like to say we're weak at LB but we would have to bring in someone with the skill set of Lawrence Taylor to improve to weak.

I believe this year is all about retooling and developing guys like Kirk, Williams . We are two years away before management goes for the gold. We’ll have our moments but it’s going to be a long season.

I was going to say that we missed the boat by not trading for Mack but then I saw what the Bears will be paying him.

Very surprised we didn't keep Penny, hopefully he is still PS eligible. Fans Hate B Williams yet he survives 2 coaching regimes so maybe he has some skills.

Looking forward to the next wave of moves before the season starts but I think there will only be a change or two.
