Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested early Thursday after being accused of rape at a hotel in Montebello, N.Y., police said.

Authorities in Ramapo, N.Y., have not released details in their investigation of Taylor, saying only that the incident allegedly occurred in the Holidome Hotel.

I'm just wondering, does the Holidome rent rooms by the hour?

I just want to go on record, that the only details in the ESPN report at the time of my initial posting are as quoted above. I wouldn't have posted the flippant remark had I known the incident involved a minor. Fwiiw, I was accurate on my initial assumptions of this involving prostitution.

As I say in all of these circumstances, we know nothing thus far. Taylor is certainly a douche, but none of us has any idea yet whether or not he is a rapist and child molester. Just a few weeks ago people accused me of condoning criminal behavior when I refused to condemn Joey Porter the morning his news surfaced.

Yup, yup, horrible headline, but there may be a lot more to this. She may have looked older, agreed to consensual sex, stated she was 18, etc.

From what I've read, it was consensual and she was a prostitute. So all we really know so far is that he's guilty buying a prostitute and not checking her ID.

Scuttlebutt is that yes, LT hired a hooker - guilty of soliciting. He did not know that she was underage, nor was trying to get an underage girl - the pimp and a relative of the girl, once they figured out who the client was, tried to set him up to black mail him

I dont consider myself clued up on the law at all but it actually surprises me that having consensual sex with anyone under 18 still carries the same criminal assertions as forceful rape. Not saying that it shouldnt but i never realised that it was actually the case. Back to the matter of LT the guy has always acted like a pratt everywhere he's been and it wouldnt surprise me one bit when the details are released that the facts are more disturbing then we imagine at the moment.
