Be awesome if the Cards could get Dansby for a cheap deal. It would at least be a ok replacement for Washington till he get's back.

I felt strongly back on April 3rd that LB Dansby would be back on the Cardinals radar and it appears that could be the case with him in town to visit the Cardinals today :)

Go Cardinals!
@SheriffK9NJ
:) The financial shuffle helped and Dwash having so many problems made it happen. Back then it made no sense, Today it makes all the sense in the world.

Big Red- I cant argue that , who knew of the Mike Tyson/ Robin Givens like saga DWash would get into :(

I think his lack of decent offers helped too, maybe he will take less here since veterans are getting burned in the new CBA.

Karlos Dansby recently visited Buffalo but the two sides couldn't reach an agreement, hearing Dansby is looking for more then a one yr deal.

With all that is going on with DWash right now it might be a very good idea to sign this guy for 2 years. The first year would be to cover as the starter than depth once DWash gets back and the second year would be insurance for them to have time to groom the next young guy in case the whole DWash situation ends up with serious jail time.

The issue then is special teams. Your depth linebackers HAVE to play on the return units. Looking at the NFL Media snap counts, Dansby was in on about 11% of Miami's special teams snaps, which looks like FG block units to me.

Looks like Brinkley only played FG block teams, as well. That leaves only Minter and Reggie Walker to contribute from that unit.

I think the better fit is Nick Barnett. Barnett is one of the best cover LBers in the NFL---and he excels as a nickel LB.

The last time Barnett played in a 34 it was in Green Bay in 2009 when they switched to the 34 and slid Barnett down to the RILB spot (which is where he would be played here in AZ). Barnett ranked 2nd in the NFL at that position in 2009 behind Patrick Willis and just ahead of Ray Lewis.

I think he's a better team player than Dansby---there are more than whispers that the new coaching staff in Miami didn't appreciate Dansby's untimely outspokenness, as was the case when he publicly made a plea for the Dolphins to keep WR Chad Johnson---you might have seen the turmoil surrounding that decision and the players' outspokenness on Hard Knocks...when HC Philbin met in his office with the outspoken players.

The Dolphins didn't even ask Dansby to restructure his contract or take a pay cut---they wanted him out pretty badly....and are taking a $7 hit by releasing him: $2.4M this year and $4.6M next year.

Team chemistry and needs: Barnett > Dansby.

Barnett told MJ he would love to be a Cardinal. That's our guy!

Here's a short writeup about Barnett by San Diego writers:

Seems like a risk worth taking to me..

Don't like the bad karma with Dansby either. The Cardinals payed him top LB money (franchise tag) for two years and gave him lucrative contract offers. He didn't want to stay in AZ (he bolted the first chance he got)---even going as far as saying the Dolphins showed him the love he wanted, when the Cardinals had offered a similar deal.

The reality is there is no more Dolphin love for Dansby.

Now he's out of a job (and he wants to come back?)---boo hoo. Let him play somewhere else.

Translated = "The Dolphins were able to get me the most lucrative deal."

The difference between the two offers was that Miami has no salary tax and Arizona does. Dansby didn't care where he played, he just wanted the most money he could get. He made that abundantly clear the two years he was franchised.

Also, both Dansby and the organization cannot be emotional during this proces and hold ill will, especially for a situation that happened three-years ago (a rather benign one at that). Bury the hatchet. Both parties need each other at this point.

Never mind that the Cards ran off almost every player that contributed to the SB run. 5-11 every year. Tough for you fans, boo hoo if you don't like it. If you don't like being a fan of one of the worst teams in NFL history go be a fan of another team.

Sounds great doesn't it?

Good Grief! 5-11 four times in the last 8 years? That's ridiculous. Maybe we should re sign Dansby and fire the Bidwills.

But, for some reason, people were glad to see our best defensive player wak away for nothing and then have Graves turn around and give a similar deal to Stewart Bradley.

I'm so tired of reading this. Here are the facts:

On March 5, 2010, Dansby signed with the Miami Dolphins to a five-year, $43 million contract with $22 million guaranteed, which made it the richest contract for an inside linebacker in NFL history

The Cardinals signed Bradley to a five-year, $25 million contract ($10 million guaranteed) in 2011.

Similar deal? How about HALF.

Ha, touche. The only memorable moment of the entire Stew Bradley era.

Stewart Bradley, Kevin Kolb, Adam Snyder, Daryn Colledge. Ridiculous contracts and major contributors to losing 15 of 18 and 11 of 12. And why Rod Graves and Ken Whisenhunt no longer work for the Cardinals.

Perfect examples of why posters who claim we arm chair QBs aren't as smart as the coaches/front office aren't always correct.

You can add Todd Heap to that list. Beyond ridiculous. That dude didn't even play. For the money we paid him and the roster spot he wasted, we could have paid anyone to contribute. Heap actually had a negative impact on our team.

True, this isn't Monday Morning qb'ing either. The majority of the board recognized that these were bad moves as soon as they were made.

But never forget, Rod Graves was a genius and beyond reproach because he was an NFL GM.
