You can't even fault the holder this time because Lee and Dawson played together in SF before. I always felt a large part of the problem with Catanzaro was the snapper and holder, in particular the snapper, were not good and it affected him.

Catanzaro is now looking pretty good in comparison.

I don't know much about Dawson from previous years, but this year he definitely is prone to push it right. They HAVE to know this, because where do they line up for extra points? On the left hash.

I would think a saavy veteran kicker like Dawson could straighten that out fairly easily. But, it's in his head and it's unlikely we saw his last miss of a FG this year today.

I heard someone say the snap was bad (low) on the missed attempt.

Dawson is horrible. He's done nothing for us. That missed field goal was terrible. Talk about taking the wind out of our sails. A great drive for nothing ... and it's not the first time.

I love how Cat Man is looking good now that he isn't with us. And Josh McCown. Ugh.

I'm willing to give Ellington a pass today. Call me a softie.

How ironic when it's Ellington who we should be calling a softie. His psyche has been shattered after his injuries, he plays scared now.

Have any of you saying this been watching him? Last week he missed 3 FGs in the game against Atlanta which they lost 25-20 after which he made a public apology to Jets fans. He's 15-20.

Actually, he kicked 2 FGs. They could have been the margin of victory.

As badly as I'd like to throttle him, consider what's still out there.

Time to make a wholesale change is after the season is over.

At this point, I think even if we got Adam Vinatieri here he would start shanking short ones too. We are cursed at that position.

I had to google it, he missed 2, both wide right, 46 and 48 yards.

15-20 is better than 12-18 which Dawson is, and Dawson has missed 4 FG's under 40 yards this year, all of Cat's misses are over 40 yards. And Cat is much younger, I get why they made the switch, they didn't trust Cat, but Dawson has been even worse at his age there's no point hanging on to him much longer.

I'm still not over the Ellington thing. I have never been a big AE guy, but not a hater either, I've just kindof been on the fence about him the last couple years.

Yesterday he completely disgusted me. Especially when we have guys like Larry and AP who are sure fire hall of famers, playing at the end of their careers in what is more than likely a fruitless season,,, those guys are out there fighting tooth and nail, literally carrying guys for extra yards every time they touch the ball. Just doing absolutely everything they can to win.

Then there's Andre Ellington, who had a chance to pick up a big 3rd down conversion early in the game and he completely avoids contact and runs out of bounds, and we punt. Completely unacceptable.

Yeah, that is the play that inspired this thread. If he had turned upfield and in, he had at least a 50/50 chance of getting the first down. But instead, he chose to step out of bounds and avoid the hit.

here is the thing: he could have at least done the stutter step and try to cut inside move --

he probably wouldnt have made it, but, would have just been tackled (i.e. not blasted) and at least looked like he wanted to make it.

Does anyone have a replay of that? I missed it. Had some things going on during the game & missed a lot at the end. Dansby's pick for one.

Dansby's pick was a gimme. Right place at the right time. Still - he's a hell of a player.
