OT: LeBron says he "Spoiled" Cleveland Fans

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-lebroncavs051210

James dismissed his unthinkably poor performance with this colossal cop-out: “I spoil a lot of people with my play. When you have three bad games in seven years, it’s easy to point them out.”

I watched the game last night and I thought the same thing. LeBron looked like he didn't care. I mean it could have been a preseason game, it was really strange. Then he makes a comment like this?

That is the most bizarre series I've ever watched. Trading blowouts? And on the other teams court? Bi-zarre. LeBron's postgame conference was bizarre as well.

And the most bizarre thing of all? Of all the people for the Cavs, only Shaq was out there trying hard. Shaq trying hard. :thud:

He pulled a Kobe. Remember when Kobe purposely tanked that game 7 vs. the Suns a few years ago? Just to prove a point?

Lebron is doing the same thing. Whic means he's outta there next year, IMO.

I guess shaq is slowing down the cavs system, like he did to the suns... I would love to see Lebron win a title but shaq wasn't the right guy to bring in for them imo. But I like the Jamison deal for them he is still decent and can have good games. I still expect Cleveland will win somehow but props to the celtics, and Rondo is amazing.

He is right though, give me a break people expect 40/10/10 from him every game. He probably just had a bad day, no energy etc..

he's had three in the last four games. That's pathetic from an MVP.

Come on DeAnna! He was playing on a bum finger........it was truly a gutsy performance. Every year we're subjected to a gutsy playoff performance from Kobe due to a painful injury that only Kobe suffers from.

Or maybe it was a bad p**** that was hurting when he was trying to jump for shooting... Maybe his wife did something to him???

At least in Kobe's case, he actually tried in the first half before passing it around the second half. His scoring alone wasn't working in the first. But him not scoring at all in the second half REALLY didn't work.

LeBron didn't even pretend to try last night. It was weird.

Bryant tried to keep the Lakers in it in the first half by scoring 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting. The league's leading scorer, Bryant netted 50 points in Game 6.

But in a puzzling disappearing act, Bryant deferred to his teammates in the second half Saturday, taking just three shots and scoring one point on a technical free throw.

"If we were going to get back in this type of game we had to have everybody contributing," Bryant said. "In the first half I started to pick it up offensively just to keep us in the hunt. If we were going to get back into the game in the second half everybody has to get into a rhythm and that didn't happen."

Through the first four games of the series, Bryant had been giving more responsibility to his teammates. The superstar attempted 35 shots in Game Six, but faded in the second half in his team's biggest game of the season.

"We wanted to get back in the game so we were running things through other guys," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "Nash was a little bit banged up and we were trying to use out inside out game. Kobe just sat on that game plan and let the other things happen."

When Bryant decided to stop shooting, the Suns decided to run the Lakers off the court. A pair of free throws by Marion with 4:31 remaining in the third quarter gave Phoenix an 80-56 bulge. Phoenix held a 90-65 bulge entering the final period.

Ya, Kobe gave up to prove a point only after the Suns got a big lead. But Lebron didn't appear to give up, he just sucked. I think that's more excusable than just quitting on your team once the game is out of reach.

Lebron gave up from opening tip. There's a difference between sucking and not trying an LBJ was doing the latter which resulted in the former. It wouldn't be a big story if he sucked. He didn't appear to care...that's what makes it an issue.

I'm sure Kobe will do some things soon you can hate on him for, fresh hate. But there isn't an excuse for LBJ's game and his "eh, whatevs" attitude afterward.

as much as I hate to agree with you, I think you're right. Even if he IS injure, it's STILL no excuse. I remember Barkley, just beyond hobbled in consecutive Game 7 against Houston and they guy was giving it EVERYTHING he had in those games. LeBron seemed completely checked out... and really has for 3/5s of this series. It's the first time I've ever seen it. Maybe it's just a guy who everything has come so easily too and this is the first time he's had to deal with any kind of injury. Even so, if that's the case, he's just handling this REALLY poorly.

I think that James is afraid to leave Cleveland, and this gives him an excuse to stay, because he can claim that they have unfinished business. He's much more interested in being idolized than he is in winning, and he knows that Cleveland will always forgive him. New York? Not so much.

Lebron didnt "give up"

Something was wrong with him yesterday. Not sure if he was frustrated, distracted, depressed or his shot just wasn't falling. Mentally he wasn't there and many times, that is subconscious. IMO, the media is blowing this out of proportion by saying this was his swan song in Cleveland. Dude just had an awful game. Nothing more, nothing less.

However, I do not think he will follow it up with another bad performance.

boy do I disagree with this. I think he bolts. He doesn't want to be known as Karl Malone and he HAS to be able to look at this roster and know they are finished... for at least a couple years. I think he's on the first flight out come July 1st and then Cleveland begs Obama to have a nuke dropped on them to put them out of their collective misery.

He definitely didn't try or show he was pissed yesterday. Lebron kicks Gatorade bottles for sucking during regular season and he looked like he doesn't give a crap yesterday after an embarrassing beat down. There is something definitely going on

My take: lebron is hurt.

But doesn't know how to play through pain. And is panicking as a result of thinking his injury is going to lose them the series. He was bent over grabbing his shorts, when does he ever get tired? You get tired easily when you are playing with anxiety.

I kinda agree with this. up until this point, the dude's been Superman and now this injury is his cryptonite. He's NEVER really been hurt before and he has no idea how to effect the game when he's not 100%. At least not yet.

Let's not forget, just two weeks ago, Kobe was finished and Steve Nash looked like the worst PG in basketball. Tomorrow will be pretty interesting.

kryptonite

I wonder if he'll run off as soon as the series ends this year too. Gotta start that off-season immediately. :D

Interesting take because I see it exactly the opposite. This gives him an excuse to bolt saying he "doesn't have a good enough supporting cast."

I have a radical thought: maybe the Celtics are better than most people realiize. It's just a though.
