Aha. A guy who took the sweet deal instead of trying it on his own. :D

I could give a rats azz about Leinarts motivation it means nothing to me. He doesn't play for Arizona.

On the other hand having the #2 QB job in Houston for $3.7 million is undeniably one sweet job.
I suppose he must have been assured the #2 spot otherwise he'd have probably turned down that deal too. Reports are he's going to have to fight for his spot with Orlovsky and T.J. Yates.

I'm sure Leinart had to think really hard about that level of competition.

if you're a software nut who loves to create games and you take a middling position at EA sports while turning DOWN the opportunity to develop your own game, then yeah... you're probably in the wrong business.

Nonsense. I'm really good at what I do. I like being in the market I'm in and have helped a lot of people build their own businesses over the years. But I have no desire to move to LA or NY to try to rock with the fortune 500 guys. I run my own shop and I love it here in Austin.

Anyone who thinks that makes me a wimp and a turd can kiss my ....

It's your poor analogy and yourself that are doing that.

You work for yourself and are out there competing. How is that analogous to Leinart?

Hell, even Rob Johnson fought to win the job in Buffalo.

YOU RUN YOUR OWN SHOP. You don't do date entry.

Analogy done right there Duck. There were a ton of jobs open all over the country... not just where the brightest lights are where Matt could have tried to run his own shop and he preferred to just sit back and do data entry.

Warner QUIT in the middle of a 2 year deal. Must have been that he was worried about competing with Max Hall.

Palmer threatens to QUIT on his deal because he doesn't like the way the big bad Bengals run things.

Ridiculous.

For $4 million dollars! That's not data entry. It's every guys dream job. How can you knock a guy for taking it? I mean that's what we've seen from Matt. He's a walking Bud light Commercial and the #2 job at that salary in Houston is a perfect fit.

That's my point. Not everyone is driven to be elite. Many of us are happy just being good at what we do. Nothing wrong with that and if you are that type personality and can find a gig like Leinart just did you've hit the jackpot.

Exactly. Should he retire if he doesn't get a starting job?

No not at all. But No one can ever tell me he couldnt compete in Seattle whom he was apparently really close to signing a deal with. Yet he chose t o be a guaranteed back up and maybe even 3rd string in Texas. Add to that that nobody else had any real interest in the league and you can see that Matt just isnt well thought of overall IMO.

but it seems like he's just happy collecting a pay check... not being good at what he's does.

and that's why we're saying he's not someone worth all that much in the league.

I'm right there with you bud, all the way.

I'm just thinking of all the elite QB's we've had and ..........

Oh wait, we've had precisely .... ONE....

This team can't throw stones at anyone about ... well anything.

Good for Matt and maybe he has a plan?

I'm pretty sure it involves a hot tub and a beer bong but there is more to life then being the next Tom Brady, being a career backup in the NFL is the best gig EVER!

So what? That makes him a wimp and a turd?

To me he's a friggin genius. I'd like to know how many guys on this board at 26 would turn down a deal where they got paid $3.7 million for two years to stand on the sidelines and watch NFL football.

Have any of you ever thought maybe he likes Houston? He is relatively young still. Gary Kubiak has said nothing but great things about Leinart. Maybe he thinks he can learn some things in 2 years and go to another team and be more prepared. Schaub has a history of injuries too. He's one hit away from being the starter.

Or he is just Alex from Blue Mountain State. Nothing wrong with that either.

He's probably just chillin gettin his mojo back, that don't come all at once, you have to get that back then you can roll.

I seriously don't really care but to call the guy out is what losers do, degrade someone so you can feel better about yourself.

We suck enough for three teams, so much so our former players are even less meaningful than meaningless to us.

We have to worry about getting our own QB thanks to the woeful roster we have now.
Does it make you feel any better to call out the Cardinals as losers? Most bashing Leinart are really just giving grief to those who kept saying Leinart was going to blow up and be the top FA QB available.

All meaningless message board back and forth.

Yes, he is a wimp and a turd. And he probably doesn't like puppies or apple pie.

But do we know that for a fact, Shane? Or was it all chatter? I would love to know if Carroll REALLY wanted him.

USC guys stick to each other like glue. Until one can't get the job done. The little voice in my head says Carroll knew Matt couldn't cut it any more. (But I fully expect Carroll to say, "We LET Matt stay in Houston because he told us he's happy there, blah blah...")

As the #2 QB, just said on ESPN Matt told Houston he will return as of now.

EDIT: Just saw the other thread, sorry yall, just got off work.

the reunited rumor started as soon as pete hit the ground in seattle and it never seemed plausible until yesterday .... even then it didn't make a ton of sense because they could of had him last year

when Matt was cut they really only had 2 QBs - Hass in the last year of his deal and Whitehurst with 1 year remaining @ $4M ... they could have signed him for a 3 year deal and he would be battling whitehurst this year to start an at worst could be a stop gap through next season as they searched for the answers

maybe he flew up to talk about the opportunity in seattle, maybe he flew up to have a beer with pete and catch up, maybe he wanted to leverage the texans and his old college coach decided to do him a solid

who knows

What in the hell is wrong with that kid?

Nothing.

If he were 38-39 years old and had won a couple of titles for the most moribund of franchises but felt his skills were going downhill and just didn't want to suck it up and take the punishment any more at his age so he walked away from the 2nd year of his contract and his fans leaving his team with nothing at QB leading to one of the worst seasons in team history we'd be calling him a hero and wishing him well on his future endeavors as a broadcaster. It's all in how you look at it.

I love it. The guy gets a deal where someone gives him almost 4 million dollars to stand around and watch football for 2 years and be the most popular guy in town in a city filled with some of the hottest women in the World.

Dude's a friggin' genius.

Good one Duck, I truly LOL.

I do think ML showed his true burning desire and work ethic by re-signing where he doesn't have a chance to compete to be the #1 QB but he definitly has a good gig.

I've said this as well but it seems to get by most people.
