Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

Release Date: December 17, 2004
Studio: Paramount Pictures
Director: Brad Silberling
Screenwriter: Robert Gordon, Daniel Handler
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy
Website: UnfortunateEventsmovie.com

Plot Summary: After Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire's parents perish in a terrible fire, they are placed in the care of Count Olaf (Jim Carrey), an actor, evil genius, and master of disguise. At every turn, Count Olaf hatches another outrageous plot to steal the orphans' vast fortune, and he's not going to let anybody stand in his way -- not Uncle Monty (Billy Connolly), not Aunt Josephine (Meryl Streep), and certainly not the children themselves! The resulting series of unfortunate events is likely to leave viewers of all ages in utter hysterics.

We rented this over the weekend.

I really liked this movie. It was so different and refreshingly unique.

Carrey was hilarious in this as well in a very indirect subtle way.

Very good. Not Potter-esque, but a fun movie. It's basically the first three books in some weird mishmash and switcharound.

The books have the Count's henchman as infinitely more evil than the comedic ones in the movie, but it works to make the movie a little lighter.

I hope they make another...

Most people I talk to don't like this movie at all. I actually loved it--I thought it was very well made and acted.
