You aren't building with pending free agents. You aren't building with Leonard Williams, an almost 30 year old with a nearly average pass rush win rate (13%) who faces the five least double teams at DT.

Its a dumb trade for the Seahawks.

How many times have you said this kind of stuff over and over and over again about not just the Hawks, but Rams and Niners also, ALL of which have bottomed out risen to playoffs/Super Bowls/bottomed out AGAIN and are STILL leagues better than us?

I've been right every time about their trades.
Rams I was wrong, because they had uncanny injury luck in 2021 and haven't since.
and Niners also,
I was wrong on CMC so far, but they haven't exactly won a chip

I don't think you get my criticism, Cheesebeef. Your relentless attempt to be critical of me makes you quickly type up a reply without actually thinking about what you wrote. Bad look.

The Seahawks can make horrible trades but still win. There is a venn diagram where that is true. It's called winning despite making a bad trade.

This isn't betting on CMC. Williams has underachieved for awhile now. He plays next to a guy who commands near constant double teams and he produces average production.

Making trades to make a trade isn't smart, especially when 2nd round picks can net real contributors.

This is more Jamal Adams than Marshawn Lynch.
I am sure the Seahawks are ok giving up Ojulari and Clayton Tune. Draft picks are draft picks. Williams is a legit NFL player at a premium position.

The flip side of your statement is that maybe these trades aren’t as detrimental as you are making them out to be.

No they aren't that much detrimental, but think of what the Seahawks could have done if they hadn't made some of the real bad trades they made. Same with the 9ers and Trey Lance.

It does take a toll if you don't luck out on late round picks.

on one hand: the Seahawks look like a team a tier below the Dolphins, Bengals, Eagles .... probably the 49ers when healthy.

on the other: if you have a solid team that will make the playoffs and can make a move like this -- you have to go for it.

The NFC is brittle. The 49ers rely on two players -- McCaffery and Deebo --who have a history of injuries. The early part of a NFC playoff run will feature games vs. the Lions, NFC South champ, the Cowboys. None of those look particularly scary.

then you get (presumably) a game vs Philly to go to the SB. Again, i dont know if in the long term that soon to be FA Leonard Williams is worth a 2nd round pick, but given the path to the SB currently -- worth burning the pick in the short term.

Not every aggressive move works out but it can still be the right move. Not every move has to be a league winner. Like I said, the counter argument is that these moves are worth it because you can easily bounce back from them, and the benefit can outweigh the risk.
