My favorite of the best picture nominees, with Argo and Django not far behind.

Looks lame like every other musical.. I just don't get musicals.. I don't see people randomly breaking out in song and chorus in my daily life, so it is unacceptable in a movie.. Whoever thought up the idea of a musical needs to be slapped..

That's some wacky logic. If you want a movie about real life, just sit around and watch real life. I love a good musical and it is far from the only genre that brings fantasy to the screen. I have more to say on this but I have to go wash my dragon before my car transforms into a talking 80 foot alien.

I was told if I didn't like musicals to never watch that show.. So, I have never seen one minute of it..

Yeah, I didn't really figure you for a Glee fan. I like some musicals and I like much of the music in Glee but I can't stand the show itself.

Finally saw this.

I don't like musicals where most, or all of the dialogue is delivered via song. I can deal with them if the music is mixed in with a real movie, e.g. "Cabaret," which I still enjoy.

The good news is that everything except one issue was Oscar worthy. The visuals, makeup and acting were absolutely outstanding. Wonderful, just wonderful.

However I couldn't even watch half of it before skipping ahead to about the last 15 minutes. The songs (not the singing) were just awful: Positively non-melodic and boring. Having never seen a Broadway play, maybe this is the way it's done, but I don't think that's the case (think "Music Man" or "Hair" for examples). All the 110% stuff was just ruined by the songs. Maybe I should have turned off the sound and just gone withe the subtitles.

Overall, a disappointment for me and the bride.

I saw this last night and thought it was amazing.

Two thumbs up, WAY up.

Amazing is right, what a story! Holy Crow! Scenes with Jackman and Crowe popped off the screen.

Looks lame like every other musical.. I just don't get musicals.. I don't see people randomly breaking out in song and chorus in my daily life, so it is unacceptable in a movie.. Whoever thought up the idea of a musical needs to be slapped..

I usually agree, but this film was different. The songs totally sucked me into the story.

I can't believe this was my first exposure to "The Confrontation". There are some fantastic clips on youtube and some really funny parodies.
