Now that we have Shaq, what are the odds D'Antoni goes to the bench some in order to get some inside-outside action going with Shaq and Amare down low and Pike getting some open looks for 3's? That would seem to make a lot of sense especially if Nash rests some. Gives us different options so we don't miss a beat.

Why not let Pike come in and do what he does best, now that the defense HAS to respect the inside? We should be deadlier than ever popping 3's and why not camp our specialist out there, instead of letting him waste away on the pine?

If D'Antoni is really interested in opening up the playbook to the max, he should go to the bench a little more and rest those starters, but at the same time MAXIMIZE the team's abilities.

Get Strawberry out there too to 'D' it up on the hot shooter.

Nah, we'll go 7 deep and we all know it.

No. Pike is terrible. I legitimately think I'm better than him. If I were 4 inches taller I could probably beat him 1 on 1. He is possibly the worst player in the NBA.

pike is not even all that good of a 3 pt shooter and has 0 skills outside of that. he should NOT play. tucker should play over him. marks should play over him. no way should he get any time, shaq there or not. we could put strawberry in there and camp him in the corner on offense for kick outs and probably have a lot more success that way....DJ is also an excellent defender. Pike would have a hard time taking me one-on-one, even with a 3 inch height advantage.

Let Pike play!
Why?
I suppose that if we're down by 3 points with little time left on the clock while suffering from injuries to Nash,Bell,Barbosa, Stoudemire & Hill.
Point being, Pike's aging , streaky 3 point shot is all he has left to contribute on the court.

Love the sig though.

STUPID Thread!!!!! DJ should get the minutes he's been seeing lately. If there are any spares Alando should get them. To give minutes to Pike is stupid

Since this discussion is getting out there, I want to throw out a weird idea. Is there room in the NBA for a trick or super long range shooter to spread the floor in a close game? Someone who can shoot the ball close to near half court range if needed in say the last 24 seconds of the game. There are probably a lot better examples, but could a Reggie Miller, Dan Majerle or Eddie Johnson be used in such a scheme. Someone would have to come out and guard them if they have a good shooting percentage from this range. I wonder if it has ever been tried besides a team like the Harlem Globetrotters.

I don't know why everyone is bashing Pike so much. He reminds me alot of our GM back in his playing days. We always focus on what a player is not rather then "can he fill a role?"....and I think the answer to that is he can.

And anyone who says he isn't that good a shooter hasn't watched over the course of his career. He doesn't get enough burn on our team (rightfully so) and plays with the scrubs when he does so this hasn't exactly been the best showcase for him.

I think 10 minutes a game to pop a couple threes when Shaq gets doubled is a fine idea in theory. Might be worth a try.

I would like to watch a stand still 3pt contest between Pike and Nash.
