I say that with a wink and a smile. Sorry, Blok has stuck as Kevin Kolb's nickname, it is too good. Just like I call John Skelton Double Deuce, it is a nickname depicting a negative happenstance but I say it with good will. And again, it is just a GREAT nickname.

That being said, I am happy for the guy, I and many fans like me have piled on the man, and for good reason. Yet, he is still a Cardinal, and will be our QB next game. It is not like Blok is a bad person, it is not like he is NOT doing whatever job is asked of him. It is not like he doesn't support John Skelton, or work hard even as a backup.

For all the grief I have given the guy, he is a pro's pro. The stories about his perception in the Cardinals locker room has obviously been manufactured by the sports media for a perseason story cause it seems the Cardinals team is in Kolb's corner (just like they are for any Cardinals QB these days).

Now don't get me wrong, Double Deuce is still the QB I back on this roster, he is my guy. But, I won't slam Kolb just to prop up my preferred QB. That is silly. I want to see this team win, and if Kolb's light bulb goes on, and he takes off, that would be 100% AWESOME.

Can Kolb do it? I don't know. I am not there yet. I will say this, Kolb is being driven by things now, at least by analyzing what he has said about his redemption by something much more powerful than money. His team, and his pride. I really, really think that Kolb had a skewed sense of his own reality. It happens, I am not saying that is a "bad" thing. I think he thought he was fine, that things would eventually just go his way, that the competition with John Skelton was a formality, a bluff.

Why? He currently said he is motivated by the "miserable moment" he was told he was not the starter. Really ? Kevin you didn't see that coming ? I understand that there is always a dip in ones confidence when hearing news like that, but when you do anything in life, and lets be honest, you stink at it long enough you are not THAT surprised when some says.....uh, maybe this is not for you.

I digress... The point is Kolb has been humbled, and humbled in a way that "woke him up". Hey, sometimes people need that, sometimes people's confidence cross the fine line to arrogance (guilty right here), and what they think is confidence becomes arrogance, and thus you become your own worse enemy. What a difference a week can make. With the decision made, Kolb had a week where it was a reality. Go sit on the bench, and practice how to look cool being a multi-million dollar clipboard holder.

By the end of the week, Kolb got thrown a bone. The football gods gave him a last chance. He fittingly (and while I don't like it, and don't support it, it happened) came out to boo's, and Wilson said poetic, and left to cheers. He got a mulligan from fans, teammates, his confidence, his pride, etc., etc.

John Skelton is not going to, and should not play in this upcoming game. Blok is going in, and I truly hope the best for the guy. Yeah, yeah, it is against New England, and yeah, yeah, they are so good. That is not the topic right now. Kolb's 1st goal of this week is to win. His 2nd goal is to show he can play in this offense, and give this team a chance.

If the Cardinals play competitive football, and keep the game close that is a win for Mr. Kolb, and a win for the Cardinals this year. IMO.

And who knows ? I always remember Cardinals fans, this team has Larry Fitzgerald, and a really good defense. That combo can beat any team in the NFL. By luck, by chance, whatever. But, for Kolb, it may be a HUGE challenge, and the "worst case scenario to stage a comeback for himself", or he can see that it is the best opportunity you can be given to show you are the man.

Good luck Blok, I will be rooting for you.

Kolb comes up as an auto-correct option for "lol" on my phone's spellcheck for some reason.

So, I've just been calling him lol for a while now.

Way to go Muffin. I picked up on the "miserable moment" too. That had to be rock bottom for him. I really like the way he responded to it. No complaining or whining, just a resolve to make the best of his chance when it comes. Now is that chance, and he has acquitted himself very well so far. Anything better than this from here on is bonus for the team, the staff, the organization, the fans, and for Kolb himself. He has my complete support whenever he is called upon to be our QB.

It is not about a light coming on, it is about staying in the pocket or better yet...run an offense that supports what he does best. Kolb is a hell of a lot more accurate than Skelton when he is used in a formation that benefits his comfort zone...spread out the WRs, shotgun formations. The Blok will knock a defense's blok off when he is used this way :)

Kolb 15/27: 140yds, 1 passTD, 1 runTD

and a win against a team that was atop a VAST VAST majority of power rankings, and a Super Bowl Contender.

In their house, their home opener where they are 10-0 liftime. Yeah. I'll take it.

Just maybe don't fumble when picking up meaningless yards. Just punt and let the defense take care of the situation.

Again. Well done. Great win.
