Yeah, that's right. I said it. What? Anybody want to say something? I want us to retain Pendy, and while we're at it, let's just go ahead and extend the entire coaching staff. Tomorrow morning.

I'm glad you started this thread so I didn't have to bump your fire Pendy thread.

Pendy had the plan, the players executed and the CarDs stoned the Panthers.

I am SO amazed at how JACKED our players are playing. However, we can't become enchanted with Pendy. He STILL has to go. Where was this type of play calling over the last 2 seasons? Whis, Haley and Grimm all deserve lifetime contracts, but the rest should be signed on regular schedules....

It has been there but not consistently. Right now good plays are being called and the players are executing. The coach can't play on the field.

No one gets fired after a season like this.

And no one should.

I just hope we don't lose a couple of them to other teams.

Grimm interviewed for the Jets job on Thursday, and I'd hire Haley in a minute. Felt that way since I saw him screaming at Warner on the sidelines last season following a very bad INT.

Go Cards!!!

Heck, bring 'em all back. Edge, Anquan, Smith, Dansby, Warner, Pendy. New contracts for everyone! Let's keep this team together!

Pendy has arrived as a first-class defensive coordinator. He's now fitted all the puzzle pieces and put his players in positions to make the most of their talents. I never thought I would see the Cardinals play blanket pass defense under his leadership. Proved wrong last night, in what was the most awesome Cardinal pass defense I have ever seen.

Pendy could always be innovative in blitzing packages...and his schemes for stopping the run have been consistently good. The missing piece was the pass coverage, which with his soft zone was the antithesis of sticky or aggressive. This is why Pendy has now arrived.

One classic case in point...not only did the Cardinal DBs play sticky coverage, they baited Delhomme to near perfection...how about Ralph Brown's interception?...The Cardinals for two plays in a row lined up no one at middle safety...Ralph Brown was lined up near the box outside of Bertrand Berry at RDE...and on the snap Brown made an inverted slide back to the middle and his eyes were clearly on the ball all the way...and the QB took the bait. And what was so refreshing to see all night was the way the Cardinal DBs were playing their men AND looking for the ball, even Rod Hood, for a change.

Pendy sticks.

I like Pendy and never thought he should be fired but I think we all hated the three man pass rush on third and long. It looks now like he is playing it like the Eagles do with more pressure. Of course number 29 has been the biggest factor in the pass defense.

I don't know yet. I still think that Pendy needs to go as two games does not define an entire body of work. All the players are playing with more intensity because it is the playoffs and I really don't want to see our defense revert back to what it has been because he is not a motivator. It is hard, because the deefense has played so well but I still believe that he has to go.

I'm still not impressed with Pendy, Delhomme had a horrible game, it wasn't necessarily the pressure on those ints. Sorry but anybody can game plan when the opposing QB chucks it up and prays for the best.

DRC made UNBELIEVABLE plays yesturday, the pick, the knockdowns, he's a freak and on his way to #1 CB in the LEAGUE soon if he keeps it up, I was floored with his intensity and ballhawking yesturday.

Hood was awesome yesturday in coverage as well, had Moose alot and kept him in check, the roll over the top coverage on Smith was great as well. AW could've played better, but didn't play horribly. That first touchdown Williams scored, I was scratching my head as to how AW didn't make that tackle. Dockett, Smith, Berry all played very well imho. Smith needs to be re-upped he's a stud, not sure if he can get more than 5m/year elsewhere, but I hope we hang on to that guy.

I'm giving the game ball to the players, not Pendy. Pendy plays 3 rushers, and OFF coverage so often it's just irritating, until the game is completely out of reach. This happens in every game and it needs to stop.

I do recognize we probably won't get rid of him since we made it to the NFC Champ game, it'd be very hard to replace him when we're having this kind of playoff run, so I'll give him another year, and then fire him for his prevent defense next year, hopefully not :)

I hope Grimm's interview goes horribly and we can keep him another season :)

I'm suprised Haley hasn't been in for an interview yet, Detroit should be breaking down his door.

I was furious at Pendy last week, and I still think deservedly so. (That stupid 3 man rush, prevent defense on that one drive)

But I also realize, he had a brilliant game plan (scheme) the whole entire game.(Carolina game) Put pressure on the QB and didnt hold back.(Went for the throat)

So I will be man enough and fess up, and apologize to Pendy and tip my hat to you.

I apologize Pendy!!!

Me too. Joe, I'm glad Levi's working out now. I love me some Penn State players!

Dont get me wrong he has a long ways to go, I just dont want to mess with nothing right now or next year. Just add to it. Keep the chemistry going. Chemistry and confidence can trump a lot of things.

But I will say that Haley is finally chipping the DE's and OLB's with his TE's and RB's 100% more then he was just 3 games ago. Seems to have raised Levi's confidence. He still needs to play from whistle to whistle again, saw him standing around in the middle of plays again.

There were a few times in last nights game when I saw only 3 down lineman and I just said to myself 'gawd no 3 man rush'. Right at the last second, they would change and rush 4 sometimes 5.

Great job mixing it up

The issue in my mind is less about Pendy, and more about how do we get our defensive players to play with this level of intensity during the regular season??

Our postseason success was predictable.. this defense always seems to play with emotion, passion, and speed when all the camera lights are on them... it's the week 10 game, on the road, vs some mediocre team that worries me with this team..

They seem to just turn the switch on and off based on who they are playing and what is at stake

Don't motivational problems with the defense fall on Pendy?

MrYeahBut I noticed the same thing. The 1st time they actually rushed 3 guys then after that the LB's started coming in. It was a great strategy. I HATE those darn 3 man rushes, you can ALWAYS expect a completion for the 1st down, way too much time to find an open receiver.

Brewster10, remember when we played that Monday nite game vs the 49ers and Whiz said Monday nite games are like the playoffs........we almost blew that game, but the Defense as a TEAM came thru last nite.
