Yes, unless Navarre puts the icing on the cake for our recent draft we will need a QB. At running back we still have this kid named Shipp, anyone remember him (how is his injury doing by the way)? I can see drafting a RB with the class coming in but this defense still needs some help and the draft could make it even better than the huge strides they have made this year. Davis has played hard but he is not answer next to Dockett and Bryant very well can almost be labeled a bust. If your Green doing the best player system in the early rounds, I go with D. Johnson from Texas at LB. McKinnon can't play for ever and Dansby could possibly play the middle and Johnson could take his place. Thompson gets pushed around at times because he is built like a safety but lacking Wilson's tackling ability. Drafting a RB still makes sense for Green's offense and a QB is a strong possibility (but who in this class?) but D.Johnson is a special player that could make this defense even tougher.

The NFL is all about balance - by drafting a LB we may be seeting our defense up to be incredible - but our offense really needs the injection right now.

The best teams in the NFL have both sides of the ball playing at high levels - at this point - our D can play at pretty high levels but our offense IS SOOOO BAD that it must be addressed before we go buck wild on the D. The Ravens have had an unbelievable D for years now - and it paid off in ONE rather flukey Super Bowl. Now - I would take the rather flukey Super Bowl - no doubt about it, but it's not a guarantee here. Hell - I'm not even saying ignore the D in the draft - I think a corner is a must with our second pick - but we really have to do two things - first and foremost this offseason - find a QB and find an absolute STUD at RB - I don't care where we do it - draft, FA, trade - but those must be the biggest priorities - after that - DG has to figure out a way to fix the O-line. If we do that - along with getting a couple decent players at DT and CB, this team will not only be a contender NEXT YEAR, but they'll be set for the next five years after that.

Let's not forget that Raynoch has sucked this year. I wouldn't be surprised that if he doesn't improve considerably, he were let go and then we'd have a place for #11 on the weak side.

RAYNOCH HAS SUCKED EVERY YEAR - it's just that now that there are actually people on the field making plays around him that it's sooo much more obvious. I expect him and Shelton to be gone off this team come next season as well as KVB and then we will finally be rid of the weakness that was the "strength" of the Mac disaster. Throw in Hill in there also.

I like the idea of Hill coming back as a nickel guy. KVB can be replaced by Kenny King. Mac, and Raynoch have to go. The question I have is what to do with Pace and his contract. He has shown somethings early but not enough. He and Bryant eat up alot of Cap space. They are expendible IMO.

I agree with Bryant. He's done nothing! Pace still needs another year. He's done a hell of alot more than Bryant has, with a year less to do it.

Assuming that Denny remains consistent with his "best player" philosophy, I wouldn't get hung up on position-need - at least so far as the Draft is concerned.

Free agency is a different story.

I'd expect to see from us -

- An attempt at some FA movement before the Draft to fill roster holes - but only if the right player(s) happen to be available.

- Drafting best player available (BAP?) in each round.

- Then taking a long, hard look at what we've got after the draft and wading into free agency to the degree our cap limits will let us.

- And all during this process, expect to see our own revolving door "revolve" if we have a surplus (or, in Dennis' view, "mere mortals") at any one position and need to create cap space.

See a RB before a QB

Green likes taking in older qb's who he feels can win under his system. RB though might actually be a rookie next year. Hambrick might have been taken to balance the skills of Smith, meaning Shipp was going to get about the same time playing as Hambrick if he didn't get hurt. I actually see Shipp staying next year, Hambrick being cut, Smith retiring and a back picked up to fill Smith's role of the bulk of the carries. I guess being from Texas I'm a little bias to what #11 of Texas, D. Johnson would bring to the table. Dansby and Johnson together would be living hell to play against in my opinion.

Off-season needs?

CB, QB, RB, TE, FS, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, and one big fat man of a nose tackle!

Lots of holes to fill on offense.

With the exception of LJ, I can't argue with you.

Yes, I'd let Bryant go before I did Pace.

Depending on how much of his bonus he was required to return to the team following his SA suspension, we could probably release him for less than we think.

I also think Shelton will be gone next year, though perhaps not until after June 1. I like Kareem Mckenzie of the Jets as a RT, who is scheduled to become a free agent this year.

Ya know, I think that one big, fat ol NT like Norman Hand needs to don a bird on the side of his helmet. Seems like he is with a new team every year, why not us?

Big may not be living up to expectaions, but he's a good lineman. SO, I'd say we have LG and Big, plus Step, who is playing pretty good for a rook.

We need at least 1 OG that can step in and play.

Speculating on what the Cards need is kind of useless since Green takes the best player available. This team always needs a lot of things. Taking good players that drop, like Dockett and Dansby, no matter what positon they play, seemed to work out well last year.

Did you see Green quote's on Big this morning? Card's won't be drafting a LT anytime soon.
